  • Yeah this is what I was going to say, the AC doesn’t care what the temperature in the house actually is beyond when the thermostat tells it to turn on or off. Running continuously to maintain room temperature on a 100°F day will be the same to the unit whether the actual interior temp is 78° or 98°

  • I usually sit right there with them, watching and talking. I’ve found most people who work in trades love to explain what they’re doing, and it’s like a free class. Actually, more like a class you pay a lot for. Anyway, occasionally I’ve had someone who obviously isn’t interested in talking, but the overwhelming majority are totally down.

  • The loss, up from $13 billion a year earlier, was driven by $72 billion in accounting charges tied to changes in the value of financial instruments Anthropic issued to raise money

This right here is how all of this will come crashing down. Anthropic and OpenAI, along with several associated companies, are using accounting tricks to hide their debts and obligations. I know a guy who retired from the city government where I live a couple years ago at 53 and draws that pension. He went back a year later at a lower level position with little responsibility and earns that salary now in addition to his pension
