Are cross posts worthwhile? I posted this in Girls With Glasses, but I could also crosspost it to bigtiddygothgf.
Would that help help anyone? Or is it more dupe spam?
I generally dislike how cross posts work on Lemmy. But that could be just me. I’m subscribed to communities I like to see. And I see it once regardless. Or several times if someone decides to cross-post. But that feels more like spam to me than anything useful.
It’s usually a thing on regular SFW Lemmy for me. Where people post the same tech news to all 5 technology communities. Or their simple question that’s now answered 3 different times separately by different people who don’t see each other in the comments… And I also don’t want to unsubscribe and miss out. So I have to live with it.
I don’t think it’s a big issue in NSFW though, or if it’s just 2 times the same picture every now and then.
Cross posting on Lemmy doesn’t feel right. I think the default web UI shows a single post with links to the cross posts.
I’ll take this as a vote in favor. Ty.
I use it to sort of figure out which community is more active
Fair enough. Another vote for cross posts. Ty.
I like to believe it is, I’d like to get crossposts on my communities (if they adhere to the guidelines, of course) and try to put an effort into crossposting for relevant communities that I know. I don’t think its spam as long as you’re not, like, cross posting a single image into 5+ communities every time.
Not everyone is constantly browsing Local, and even if they do, you might lose something here and there with the sheer volume of contributions. Cross posting to specific communities will highlight it to the people who are subscribed, and also help the administrators.
Makes sense. I’ll take this as a +1 for cross posts. Thanks.
