Summary

U.S. bourbon makers are struggling with uncertainty as the Trump administration imposes, delays, and revokes tariffs.

Brough Brothers CEO Victor Yarbrough says fluctuating trade policies make planning impossible. A planned expansion into Canada was halted after Trump imposed 25% tariffs, which prompted retaliatory Canadian trade restrictions.

The EU also announced steep tariffs on bourbon in response to U.S. metal duties. Kentucky lawmakers warn tariffs will harm exports and raise prices.

Industry leaders fear long-term damage to a sector that thrived under free trade agreements.

I’m Canadian. I actually LOVE bourban, Tennesee Whiskey, etc.

But, until the US stops trying to take over our country? I will be damned to Hell before I buy ANYTHING I find that is american.

Fortunately, I also love scotch. So, viva Scotland! (and Japan!)

I would also add that the “boycott lag”, will continue for years up here with American products, even IF the tarifs and ‘invasion rhetoric’ stops.

Like really? Canada is at your side for 100years, and you fuck us over (more than usual)?

    USA has spoken.

    Abusive. Untrustworthy. Manipulative. Liars.

Why would Canada continue to associate?

Boycott lag will last for decades. You gave a pretty good example. Replacement products from other sources if they are acceptable will gain more market share after the boycott ends. In some instances it can change for centuries (like coffee after the U.S independence).

Bourbon isn’t my thing, but I’m glad they’re criticizing Trump.

Nobody I know down south is happy with this and they need to make their voices heard and start taking action
