After he said hello and I said hello came a pause during which it would have been confusing to say hello again so I said how are you doing and guess what, he said fine and wondered aloud how I was and it turns out I’m OK.

    I don’t know why I’m surprised at a good poem about such a hmm prosaic? topic, but this is great. Wow yeah, what a picture.

    It’s impressive the way this poem uses little techniques to invite you into the head of the narrator, making the final few lines hit hard.
