Why do I need to ask that? I know it’s expensive.

Because what you’re stating about your budget doesn’t take into consideration the social safety you’re leveraging that americans have to allocate additional budget for (or risk the consequences).

I don’t know why you’re looking to argue about it but I’m not interested. I simply stated that where I live 100k a year would take you so much further than it does in the US. Take care now.

No, you didn’t mention “than in the US,” so people assumed you were sharing an American perspective under an article about US states’ cost of living.

              Greetings from your southern neighbor!

yup. many people don’t understand that while salaries are lower in the EU, your taxes cover actually life-changing governmental services the US doesn’t. (i personally know both perspectives)

it took you 5 posts to tell us you’re not in the US. it’s simply impossible to interpret your takes without context. you’d need twice as much money in the US to have a comparable lifestyle.

I already said I’m from the northern europe. I don’t get what your problem is…

                  My problem?

…and I live in Denmark (or some other country where people don’t default on medical debt).

                  This thread is wild.

I assumed it would be obvious from my first post that I don’t live in the US when I mentioned living comfortably on 35k a year in a thread about needing 100k to be considered middle class in the US. Clearly, it wasn’t obvious, so I clarified it in my third reply (not the fifth, as you claimed), four hours before your first message to me. Do you want me to apologize for not anticipating this potential confusion from the start, or what exactly are you after here? How about just saying, “Sorry, I missed your message where you said you live in the EU”?
