The president’s outright betrayal of Ukraine shows the U.S. is in a precarious position

To be fair, there was about sixty years of moderate Dems enabling Republican treason that were all necessary to make this moment possible. Her campaign deserves a ton of blame and none of the people who worked for it should ever be trusted with any kind of responsibility ever again, but in a better environment them being stubborn self sabotaging idiots wouldn’t have been nearly as big a calamity as it’s been.

Not disagreeing with the characterization per se, only that on Election Day we had one of two choices and some vocal posters indicated they would be choosing . . poorly. One hopes they have a better understanding of that choice now as the last two years have shown it in high relief.

Trump has always been a Russian puppet. So the surprise was him waiting this long between attempts to get Ukraine to surrender. He last tried a year ago.

        Maga are traitors.

It is disgusting but it is not betrayal. Trump was never really against Russia and never for Ukraine. He is a selfish person who want to enrich himself. If he believe he will make more money from Russia he do it

Right. Fair. Trump was always Ukraine’s enemy.

Right now America is betraying Ukraine by letting Trump do this.

Unfortunately, there’s nothing our political system can do about it at least until the midterms, but hopefully we’ll see some real change after that.

We signed an agreement with Russia and Ukraine, promising Ukraine military defence in exchange for them giving up their nukes. Russia also promised to never attack Ukraine. We made an agreement that we’re morally obligated to follow.

Nope. The Budapest memorandum does not promise military defense in any way. The closest that it promises to military defense is that the US (and all other parties to the agreement) is required to submit a report to the UN security council if Ukraine gets nuked.
