What makes a good karaoke song is based on your audience. It should be something you think many of the people in the room would know, and could maybe sing along to. It doesn’t have to be a song they consciously like, just know. Most of the time not too slow. You see too many people getting up and doing something that’s technically impressive but not enjoyable for the audience, like a deep cut from a musical.

Not sure about the best overall but one of my favorite karaoke memories is a metalhead friend of mine performing Weird Al - White & Nerdy.

It seems everyone in my circle really like Uptown Girl by Westlife, it’s like mandatory song.

    Napalm Death - You suffer.

I personally think it drags on a bit too long for karaoke.

If you have 4-5 guys: “I Want It That Way” by the Backstreet Boys

If you have 3-4 guys: “Greased Lightning” from the musical Grease

If you only have 2 guys: “Total Eclipse of the Heart” by Bonnie Tyler

If you are singing alone and want to rock: “Summer of '69” by Bryan Adams

If you are signing alone and want to make sure nobody looks at you the same ever again: “They’re Coming to Take Me Away, Ha Ha…!” by Napoleon XIII

In my experience, most karaoke companies have it in their database. If you can do crazy eyes and a decent falsetto, it’ll be unforgettable.

Sweet Caroline. It’s impossible for the audience to resist shouting “BOP BOP BAAAAA” during that song.

Also, I think I’ve only heard that song during karaoke. I never hear it anywhere else…

My personal favorite to sing with my now husband is “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough” version by Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell.

    Literally anything you like!

I personally have a strong leaning towards rock music groups from the 90s to 00s ish. Such as “Linkin Park” and “Papa Roach”. I also like newer bands such as “Starset” and “Project Vela”. I just can’t do the screaming parts haha.

Random side note: And… if I could stop being lazy maybe I’ll make more karaoke videos on YouTube haha. (I try to make ones for my favorite songs that don’t have karaoke videos for it yet.)
