Ok, maybe this is silly but I find this song quite uplifting in a working class to the stars way… or I may simply be a single drop of rain

    I love The Highwaymen! True country. And true country is never right-wing. Johnny Cash stood up for what was right, and should be the Christian the right aspires to be.

        Just a heads up, while Johnny Cash’s first wife was indeed black, she didn’t know it at the time (she was passing and so were her parents). They both thought she was Italian (and said as much when the KKK started harassing her) and it wasn’t until after their divorce that she found out she had African heritage.

        Not to take away from the sentiment, though. Cash was a good, if troubled, man.

      Hey thanks, i really love this song and i do think it should be a working class anthem of sorts. The part about the dam builder falling in and dying is particularly salient. The highwaymen describes workers and their everlasting contribution.
