It’s not like enlisted soldiers choose when invasions happen, they just volunteer to fight for the empire when the orders come. The higher ups, who know they’re going to die, are cowards and that’s why they avoided conflict for so long.

But plenty of people joined up to fight in Afghanistan and Iraq, fully expecting danger. That’s cynicism, not cowardice.

I understand that you hate them. I hate them too. I think it’s funny when they die. But, they aren’t cowards.

they joined up because they got paid to let local proxies fight, bully civilians and sit in a base playing games.
They did not expect to fight or die.
99% of them would not do it if they were at war with Russia or China.
      They are cowards

No one signs up for deployment not expecting danger. 🙄

They are cynics. They joined up because military service was their ticket into owning a home and getting a degree without a ton of debt and getting free healthcare and maybe getting a Dodge Charger, and they did so believing they were risking their lives to at least some extent.

Though they certainly wouldn’t sign up for certain death against Russia or China, but that’s still cynicism. If the point of enlisting is personal benefit and upward class mobility, they’re not going to jump into a meat grinder. Cynics only take risks if they think the reward is worth it. But again, that’s not cowardice. That’s just neoliberal subjectivity.

A coward wouldn’t take any risks. They’d just become a cop for upward mobility.
