Out of curiosity, what happened in the post about the FUTO keyboard where there were a lot of messages deleted by moderators?
I’ve commented there
What the heck happened with all the messages deleted by moderator?
And it got deleted. Right now you can only see 4, but I’ve counted 19 messages moderated and the post has been locked.
Why?
Seems a lot of futo fans were advocating that it was “open-source” because the code is available while ignoring that an essential part of something being consider open-source is that the source is licensed openly as well as being viewable openly.
But about those comments, the best thing to do is reply saying that it’s not open source, not censoring messages like in a dictatorship.
That feels abuse to me.It’s kind of ironic that a mod felt the need to bring the censorship down like that, instead of allowing for an open discussion.
Exactly!
Looking at the modlog, they were deleted citing resaon (mostly) offtopic. Altough, it was a little odd.
The entire post was off-topic as FUTO does not qualify as open source. That being said, the mods should probably update community rules instead of murdering a discussion thread.
I cannot agree more with you.
I’ve edited the post with some screenshots where is visible that the moderated comment were not off topic.
I am just telling you the reason they cited. I don’t exactly agree with them. There was a bias from the mods. Although, personally, don’t like futo.
check out the modlog (6 hrs ago): https://lemmy.ml/modlog
Sorry, on the first read my eyes didn’t read “looking at the modlog”. Where can I see it?
