Use an app that allows blocking posts by keyword, like Voyager.

This is my list of keywords that keeps my sane while browsing lemmy:

I do the same. I still get a ton of posts like this don’t include any relevant key words and still are about musk or trump. It’s impossible to escape.

And then you look for a community devoted to your hobbies and the most recent post is from a year ago.

I like to be informed, however I wouldn’t call whatever happens on lemmy as information sharing but more like endless ranting. I get it it is what it is but I think it is healthier to have more than one topic

Sometimes it yearn for the days the Harlem shake was a meme, and the Numa Numa guy, and badgers badgers badgers…

And if you really want to go even farther back to the 90s and super early 2000s internet (i am talking about pre 9/11) you had Where Are The Toons Now? And peanut butter jelly time and the Mr. T vs. (Insert random opponent here). Does anyone remember when Mr. T was an internet meme? Or even Bert is evil (a 90s meme literally stopped by 9/11).

While fun stuff obviously still exists aplenty (i actually like the skibidi stuff) I just wish we could do that again. But Trump is fucking everything up so much that I can simply cannot look away. It is everywhere.

Why are there so many people assuming every lemmy user is from the USA

Sometimes its bad for mental health to continuously see all the bad things that are happening in the richest country in the world

Same as Reddit, Americans don’t seem to be able to comprehend that there are other non Americans on the internet. It’s crazy.

Bonus points for people saying ‘here, where I’m from, not in my country’, they are all from the US. Anyone who mentions where they live with zero context and assumes you understand is a yank.

It’s always funny seeing non-Americans assume that the problems of America are unique to America and that anyone talking about those problems can only be from America.
