The first use of AI I’ve seen that truly made me happy.

Intro from the original article:

People are vibe coding their way to better TVs

Users are getting fed up with the barrage of ads and data tracking on TVs and are looking to AI vibe coding for the answer.

Vibe coding has reached TVs. Social media is awash with posts from people using LLMs and open-source tools to remove ads and tracking, trim bloat so the OS runs faster, and even completely change the look and organization of their homescreens. While a lot of it is fun — one user turned their TV homescreen into a Pokémon town — I think there’s a level of frustration behind it, too. And TV companies should take notice.

AI isn’t inherently bad but large corporations training it on stolen data and using it recklessly causing harm to so many is a really big problems

It’s no worse than using a pencil to stab someone else. You can do a lot of good things with a pencil, but I wouldn’t want Jeffrey Dahmer to have a sharpened one near me.

But are you also trying to make money off that stolen data? And are you stealing from small independent artists?

If the pencil was made on a factory where they don’t pay the workers.

Youre voting with your wallet, as dumb as the concept is.

AI is just a tool. A tool is only bad in how it is used.

AI companies like trying to pretend that it’s the solution to everything and that it is true intelligence. It is not.

AI companies absolutely did massive copyright infringement in building their models and the people involved should face the same penalties that a pirate business would.
