I wish BadComedian’s videos on YouTube were translated into English so that English speaking comrades could see for themselves the nightmarish level of farce Russian state-sponsored media turned this memory into: evil NKVD drunkards forcing genetically pure Russian soldiers to die while they survive with the help of God™️ and make friends with SS soldiers because “the Russian soul is so kind”, etc. Inviting Israel to the parade is really not the worst of it.

Ya’ll please calm the heck down. There are long-running reasons for this invitation. One instance of realpolitik does not suddenly mean ‘Russia bad’, that is liberal thinking.
Before the collapse of the USSR, it had a sizable Jewish minority. The USSR saved many Jews from the Nazis, and most ended up living in the USSR.
After the collapse, that minority immigrated to Israel and make up about 15% of the Israeli population. Many have dual Russian-Israeli passports. 1 in 4 staff members in Israeli universities are native Russian speakers.[1]
These Russian Jews act both as a potent fifth column promoting Zionism in Russia, and facilitate useful political connections between Israel and Russia. For example, Israel has been rather quiet about Russia’s operations in Ukraine. In return, Russia doesn’t say much about Israel’s genocide in Palestine.
Because of these circumstances, Russia doesn’t readily oppose Israel. When Russia works with Iran, Russia explicitly says that they cannot involve themselves in an Israel-Iran conflict. The most Russia can do without pissing off their Jewish fifth column is to weaken American influence and hope that makes Israel less insane.
In 2024, Israel officially recognized Victory Day as a holiday, and is one of the only non post-Soviet countries to do so. It makes sense that Russia would return the gesture by inviting them to the Victory Day Parade in 2025. [2] Israel previously attended the 2018 parade at Russia’s invitation.
Russia has also invited China, India, Brazil, Slovakia, Serbia, and Mahmoud Abbas from the Palestinian Authority.
I don’t like this Russian invitation either, but it makes sense from Russia’s history with Jews. It certainly has better reasons than how much America buddies up with Israel. Russia actually protected Jews in WWII, while America just lies about their pro-Jewish history.
TLDR: Zionists fuck up the relations with Israel of any country they worm their way inside, and Russia is no exception.
Russia is also using Victory Day as a pre-summit before BRICS in July 2025. Russia has invited the BRIC members of BRICS alongside Eastern Europe and Israel. It would make sense for them to use the opportunity to talk.
Russia doesn’t particularly care. They’re not some bastion of progressivism. Realpolitik dictates it’s useful to bang the drums of “Russia saved the Jews in world war two and Ukraine and the EU are run by Nazis”.
I don’t like this, but I’ve also read that Russia invites countries to it’s Victory Day Parades as a pseudo-summit for political purposes.

I think Putin gets a metric-shit ton of bad rep for stuff that isn’t his fault or isn’t exclusively his fault, and he has done alot of genuinely good things for his country that people don’t talk about much.
But I also hold the opinion that regardless of him constantly being slandered and demonized by the western mainstream global capitalist news media, he is a still a fucking horrible, manipulative reich-wing dictator who belongs in prison or in the ground, and he isn’t a good person or an ally, just a tool.
I have serious problems with how alot of Russian communists seem to be socially reich-wing, but I understand that some of that could be just trying to survive in the bourgeois Russian regime.

Yeah, though the communist party in Russia has issues, constantly kowtowing to Putin and United Russia at the worst of times.
And then being surprised when their headquarters get attacked or searched by the authorities.
There are many rank-and-file (and even leaders) that are good, I think, much like most communist parties in SolidNet (I don’t believe in the old mantra “The leaders suck but the people are good” since the truth is more complicated than that and you can’t really separate the two). But honestly, they try to play both sides or try to come off as “respectable” in Russian politics at the worst time. Not surprisingly, they also hold certain conservative views on sexuality and gender, including, of course, transphobia and queerphobia.
I suppose Yogthos could explain more since he’s Russian, I think, but that’s where I stand.

Keep in mind they don’t always do that, but Putin is still anti-communist either way, and that will never change.
Extremely wishful thinking is that Putin plans for Zelenskyy to actually attack Moscow during the festivities and will kill off the Israelis attending during the commotion.
Talking down to Israel is something that actually could happen. I believe Putin is known to be rude and disrespectful during dipolmatic meetings, when he can get away with it.
Regardless, it’s because refusing to allow Israel to attend wouldn’t help with any of Russia’s political goals.
He may be rude and disrespectful, but, much as I like him sticking it to the Israelis, I don’t think even that will happen.
I’m not necessarily doubting you, but I feel like you have some examples of Putin being rude and disrespectful during diplomatic meetings, and I’d love to see them.
Tbh, I have noticed that he can be very… “showy” when it comes to how he conducts meetings, such as when he threw a pen for a business executive to sign when he was forcing them to comply with a law (BBC reported on it and bemoaned the fact that he was meeting them face to face while the grumpy business CEO was rigidly signing the pen).
In that sense, he is indeed, well, rude, though I don’t blame him in that instance.
Still, it does speak to a sense of pride and combativeness, I suppose, whether he needs those qualities or not.
I also know that he tells “improper jokes” sometimes, like when he said that he “doesn’t condone prostitution” but then quips “but we do have the best prostitutes in the world.”
(My memory is fuzzy on that last one; it was worded in a way that was tongue and cheek when Russia was lambasted in public forums for having rampant prostitution.)
