Hold up. I just skimmed an article yesterday saying the Supreme Court gave the go ahead for the deportation of 250000 Venezuelans.

    Can anyone clarify what’s what?

This was stripping the “Temporary Protective Status” from the Venezuelan immigrants. This essentially makes them all deportable now.

This court decision in the OP is blocking the use of the Alien Enemies Act Trump was trying to use to deport anyone that spoke out against Israel.

I thought that was already the act he used to send all those people to El Salvador? Is there some other 18th century alien enemies act they are using? How many of those are there?

There is overlap on both of these things. They are using whatever methods they can to deport people. They are focusing on (1) deporting as many people as possible to have numbers to show and flex for their base come midterms and (2) to suppress all speaking out against the genocide in Gaza and labeling them as terrorists.

So. No, it’s the same act. The administration is using whatever tools they can to suppress speech and deport brown people. So there is some overlap as well as the administration just making up shit and breaking the law as quickly as they can.

It’s essentially the administrations policy to overwhelm the court systems and force them to play whackamole.

Ridiculous. What other has been or would ever be afforded such preferential treatment by the US?

What really pisses me off is that US meddling in Venezuela is the reason for Venezuelan refugees in the first place.
