      Some people who (directly or indirectly) support Israel get touchy when you mention the genocide thing.

        The use of war crimes always comes up in my fairly zionist family. The “its not a genocide, its just war crimes.” My response is always "so you see a guy in a park stabbing someone. You say ‘stop murdering them!’ They say ‘technically it was an accident, so its manslaughter not real murder.’ And your response is ‘oh, okay then, carry on.’

        I personally liked Israel. I liked the states. I’d like to like both again. But they have to change leadership, reverse course on a lot of policy, and make some significant amends. But if we can like Germany again, nobody is unredeemable (I hope).

    After we vote for genocide, we can push the pro-genocide people left. I’m sure if we just ask nicely, they’ll stop liking money and accepting legal bribes from the pro-genocide lobby. I mean, surely they care about what we think beyond just what determines our actual behavior, right?

    In any case, the time to oppose genocide is during the primaries conducted and overseen by the pro-genocide party leadership, which has successfully argued in court that said primaries do not have any obligation whatsoever to be free and fair.

    /uj It’s pretty much the exact attitude the social democrats had a hundred years ago when they all went psycho and supported WWI. “Don’t say we support the war, because we oppose it in principle. We only support it in practice.” Some things never change.

      From my experience it’s more like:

      German person: “I don’t support the genicide Israel is committing”

      Someone else: “so you’re against Jews again!!??!?”
