From one dust catcher to an other. :) Why not? If those machines are actually scrap this gives them a new way of life.
Because they are amazing machines and are built to last and then sure, the parts may be from broken ones, but unlike allot of modern machinery, these are still operational or useful in parts for those who use them.
My Grandmother had an old foot-pedal powered Singer from the 40’s that wasn’t babied but worked better than most of the modern day sewing machines. She taught me to do mending on that sewing machine and it was OBVIOUS how much better it was even being foot powered. Not realizing they were giving it away when my grandfather’s Parkinson’s got so bad he had to move to be closer to medical care, they sold it since my parents did not know I wanted it and I thought that she would not get rid of it and would move with it.
As I understand it, 45 years later and a single repair, and the grand daughter of who they gave it to is still using the 80+ year old machine. If I had the room and the money I would get one restored to its original working order and have it proudly in my living room.
