YarraByte has been having a lot of unauthorised absences lately. Do we need a PIP?

Absolute nightmare finding a working air pressure hose for the car around here. The one at BP yesterday was busted, went to the nearest petrol station for the hose there to be fucked, another guy there said the hose at the 7 Eleven doesn’t work. I drove through one petrol station twice to find theirs, it was off in a corner. And there was a guy in a work ute taking forever to do his tyres. Petrol stations probably don’t care about their air pressure hoses because air is free and inflated tyres improve your fuel economy

You can get little portable compressors, easy to keep in the boot. Often have multi function like flashing lights for emergencies and usb to charge your phone from. Handy.

It’s so frustrating, right?! Am glad that a Reddy close to work has a working one that I’ve even seen a tech attending to lately. Feels like a fuckin’ unicorn! My car loves to throw a pressure warning as well, need to get that checked at it’s 10k service.

I found this too, with riding my bike. So many places had broken air hoses that I started carrying my own bike pump in my backpack!

You have inspired me. I have my own compressor and my tyres were well overdue for checking, I went out and did that just after reading your post!

Then I got on a bit of a roll, I’ve now cleaned the windscreen (which had way too much bug residue) topped up the wiper spray fluid and checked what sort of headlight bulbs I need so I can replace those. The manual is useless and just tells you to replace the bulbs with the same type, but doesn’t tell you what that is. And it turns out to get to the bulb is a bit of a pain in the butt - it looked like it should be easy, but where it is positioned is jammed against other parts which make it really hard to manoeuvre, so that took way longer then I anticipated. But at least now I can find out what sort of bulbs to order. I don’t really want to wait for one to burn out, given I’m regularly doing night drives along the freeway now, only having one working headlight would be pretty nasty.

I’ll need to use the portable air compressor I have for more than just bike emergencies. The people at the first petrol station had a noticeably low tyre and I felt bad I couldn’t help them

Can you visit? I find trees are very calming too, maybe there is a large park easier to get to than the beach. Walk through a park with large trees is always refreshing for me.

I am not too far from the coast here but the local shore is unnavigable swamp and mangrove , where I used to live had beach. I could visit by train or bus, it’s 20 minutes away, and have been considering it.

there is a little park on the corner, the park that had wild native irises, a bigger park near the baseball field

I have now ordered new headlight bulbs. Hard decision between brightness and longevity, but I’ve gone for brighter bulbs given the amount of night driving on unlit roads I’m doing now. Reportedly lifespan is often only around 8 months though, so I’ll have plenty of practice in changing them!

I’d forgotten about the whole long weekend thing - the joys of shift work!

Technically I guess mine’s going to be really long, because I have 60 hours of work scheduled between Friday and next Thursday, so it’s going to be long in all the wrong ways.

It’s good you’ve got the shopping done already, people seem to love crowding the shops at the start of a long weekend.

It’s all over the place. I don’t feel 49. I’m a mother of a young adult which is still unbelievable because I feel youngish… until I speak to those young adults and realise that yep I am in fact old.

I have to wear pants today 😭

Usually my rule is spring -> autumn means shorts only but today is important and requires the lower leg to be fully covered in case… of… well I guess offending someone who doesn’t like legs.

How? How do you not feel the chill? I see other people out and about with shorts or a shirt on on days like this and I’m stunned every time.

We have uniforms at work so what we wear isn’t generally an issue, but if someone ‘important’ is coming we get instructions to tidy up our desks. Usually they don’t end up coming anywhere near us, at best we see them on the other side of the room.

I hate it when packages get delivered to my letter box instead of being brought to the door. It means I have to venture outside.

The package has been collected now anyway, and I have restocked my supply of bandaids (I had some so old they had lost their stick), have aquired a couple more tubes of toothpaste, and I have also obtained an eye mask for sleeping, which should help when Mr Woof decides to push open the blind and let in lots of glaring sunlight while I am trying to sleep during the day.

I swear bandaids used to be better. I’m talking like 20 years ago. They seemed to stay stuck better and weren’t as goopy when removed. Perhaps it is in my imagination, or I’m the only one that’s noticed the great bandaid enshitification.

I’ve put on some blokes watching The Two Towers in the background while I put my new shelves together, these guys are total naives about Lord of The Rings. They have so many questions! ( The answer is Gandalf is a Maiar ( an angel/bodhisattva ) ) who has a human body , he is vulnerable even if he is immortal )

It’s nice to hear the fresh takes.🙂

I have watched it so often, read the books decades ago, listened, been part of forums, read books on lore, the world is like second nature to me. I imagine my experience is like people who work on a movie, any movie, and have seen it hundreds of times.

Total respect on movie artists, how they can keep the image/vision of what they are striving for constant and fresh ( and yet I know they adapt and change what they do in editing
