Maybe that’s just in accordance with the normal style of metal music, where male vocals are expected / more appropriate. I’m surprised to learn that there are female metal singers at all.

In my head I’ve got a whole slew of doom, black(end), and postmetal with female vocalists - and in some cases all band members

      In no particular order:

      • Snakemother
      • Hippie Death Cult
      • Phantasmal Abyss
      • Chrch
      • Hoaxed
      • Year of the Cobra
      • Alunah
      • Messa
      • Brume
      • Grayceon
      • Windhand
      • Acid King
      • King Woman
      • Exuvia
      • Blackwater holylight
      • Mammoth weed wizard bastard
      • SubRosa
      • Faetooth

Light this city, Ignea, Arkona, even Battle Beast. There are plenty female vocalists with a lot of catchy songs.

Nervosa is my favorite all-women band of all time. Super tight thrash/melodeath from Brazil.

Lacuna Coil, Otep, and Arch Enemy immediately come to mind, but you are correct - feminine representation is a small minority in metal.
