So, it’s gonna be forever, or it’s gonna go down in flames.

I’ve been at such odds with Taylor over the last few years, Combat I know you’ve known my conflictions. With this it’s just another. I know it’s claimed so it doesn’t go on eBay, but is that really the worst that happens? Is someone making a few bucks on eBay really worse than literally incinerating it all?

None of that could be reused? Or recycled? High school theaters didn’t need new drapes or props? It’s so unbelievably wasteful. SinceMidnughts I’ve been deeply troubled by her actions. She keeps writing songs about being hurt while also literally renting out MSG for her wedding and then incinerating everything. It’s hard to describe, actions like this make it harder and harder for me to be a Swiftie.

I know and I understand your struggle. It’s feels kind of like she’s breaking kayfabe – previously, she was careful enough with her actions you could think that Taylor from real life was the same as Taylor from her songs, but they’ve gotten far enough apart I can’t conflate them anymore. For many musicians, that wouldn’t be that big of a deal, but so much of Swift’s empire is built on the sense that she gives glimpses and hints and peeks and clues into her most vulnerable places that I struggle to see how she moves forward. For me, I think I’ve moved on from being a Swiftie and now it’s more that there is a bunch of music I still enjoy, and a savvy businesswoman I’m curious about.

I’m glad you understand that, it’s hard for me. Swift was an emotional outlet for me for such a long time. I know that what she writes and what we hear isn’t exactly her, but it was a good emotional release. The last few albums have felt so… hollow though. Exactly what you said, how can I be empathizing with you anymore, it’s completely unrelatable. Either you are singing about real things and that means I can’t compare to them anymore (I don’t have a private jet or a MSG wedding) - or you’re lying about feeling things, and it just makes it harder and harder to connect with.

I like what you said, I’m less Swiftie now and now simple enjoy-er of her music. I don’t find myself listining to TTPD or TLOAS, I find myself going back to Rep, Red, folklore, and 1989. I think sadly she’s just too disconnected to be truly relatable.
