The shitty thing really is that California so desperately needs this rail link, and yet everyone is just as corrupt as conservatives say they are. That’s the worst part, that it’s proving naysayers right.

Its been over 10 years and we have a few bridges and track supposedly will be starting this year. Meanwhile billions have already been spent. It should be done. Minimal we should see massive crews building it.

Nationalize the goddamn high-speed rail. Just hire the workers and oversee the construction directly rather than bidding this out. Of course, no one in government could be entrusted with the task. Fucking joke of a country and joke of a state.

And just to add insult to injury their entire high speed rail network is less than 20 years old. They had 0 miles of high speed rail in the country in 2008 and now they’re at something like 2/3 of the total miles of high speed rail in the world.

They own us at literally all infrastructure projects. I visited China in 2023, I went to a small rural town with a small population by China standards (less than 50k) and in my 2 weeks there I saw major road work done that legit would have taken months in my home city in the states. One of the major streets needed work (large holes, uneven, breaking sidewalk, etc etc) it was torn down in one day and rebuilt in 2/3ish, this included the road, the sidewalks, multiple light/power poles.
