Because the systems are designed to reward the most power hungry cunts. Whether it’s capitalism or politics, someone has to want the position of power before they can get it. The vast majority of people who want power/money want it for selfish reasons.
It’s quite literally by design that the shittiest fuckheads get ahead, whether you’re cynical enough to say that’s the point of the systems, or not.
