Most of the world is capitalist, and most of the world is poor.

    Michael Parenti

They talk about the failure of socialism but where is the success of capitalism in Africa, Asia and Latin America?

This made my heart drop. However marginalized or trod upon I may be, I am still part of the rich. I don’t make my living just by owning things, so I got that going for me; but my whole lifestyle sits on the backs of those folks. I knew it was bad, but this picture was just a gut-punch. If these people need to march on us to be liberated, so may it be.

I feel the same way, but the glamour only has its effect lost on us after certain experiences and ideology reminding us of its ugly side. If we dropped a farmer from 18th c. anywhere in the middle of times Square or Shibuya station, there’s no chance they won’t be in awe.

A lot of people back then (and now, but back then too) believed in Hell. Before the devil with horns growing from his head overseeing a lot of burning and poking with pitchforks, it’s supposed to be separation from God. Give 'em two minutes to adapt and I think they’ll agree that it’s very, very far from God.
