Is it about harm reduction? Cause I’d see the point there, if the act of impeachment didn’t come off as useless in the face of Trump.
“Impeached” basically only means he was formally charged. If Congress doesn’t actually find the impeached person guilty, then the impeachment doesn’t mean shit.
That’s one of the reasons Republicans are so desperate to maintain control of the House and Senate. If they don’t, future impeachments might actually have - gasp! - consequences that matter.
For the senate to convict an impeached president requires a ⅔ supermajority.
Like hopefully this election will break the trifecta and maybe even return both chambers of congress to the Dems, but a senate supermajority would basically require a miracle.
it does seem they have been more useful as a spoiler protest entity then a genuine engine for change. i still watch them for the possibility for actual left movement, but they seem to just want to make people feel good, but keep the status quo.

They need a 2/3’s Senate majority to convict, which they’ll never get.

The reason is because the American people want impeachment and No Kings betrays us all by pretending that is too radical for us or impossible.
