You’ll note that we don’t do full body MRI scans of everyone at the ER or when they visit their PCP,

Strawman fallacy. Pregnancy tests are cheap and quick.

There is a tradeoff to collecting that data, sure, you can argue that administering a pregnancy test is fairly short and consequence free interaction. However

    Unsubstantiated argument.

“99% accurate” so about 1/100 women are going to get a false results, complicating the care for a lot more people that the 1 in 500 undetected pregnancies.

Another unsubstantiated strawman. An unexpected result can easily be retested.

it also shows preferential treatment for a hypothetical person over the actual person seeking immediate care

Red herring. Already said opting out should be a right.

Imagine being in pain, confident that you aren’t pregnant,

AND BEING WRONG. Which statistically happens as per web MD. 1/500 pregnant women spend half their pregnancy unaware they are pregnant. ~7000 women per year in the USA

the people you are paying hundred of dollars an hour to help you are

    Exclusively American problem bro.

and the testing should be opt-in, instead of opt-out with a slew of lawyers and waivers.

Strawman. Again sounds like an exclusively american problem. Opting out in canada is as simple as the doctor clicking a checkbox.

Every problem you’ve described has nothing to do with pregnancy testing.

    remove the mandatory pregnancy tests

What does that solve? According to webMD 1/2500 pregnancies are undetected until labour. Meanwhile 1/500 don’t know they are pregnant until week 20.

Obviously doctors shouldn’t be gatekeeping healthcare, and women should be able to opt out, but I don’t see how collecting less data benefits patients.

edit: Like in Canada they started taking blood pressure at everything not just medical doctors. Dentist, physio, everyone. Cuz they weren’t getting enough historical data by the time issues arose?

  • billionaires couldn’t give 2 flying fucks whether weed is legal or not

    Yes they do.

    1. Cannabis is illegal because that allows them to prohibit hemp farms, which directly threated lumber and cotton derived paper and clothing products.

    2. Pharmaceutical companies want cannabis to remain schedule 1 so that no research on how its a less harmful alternative than what they’re currently prescribing can get out. (Cannabis isn’t 100% harmless)

    3. The war on drugs is an excuse to overfund drug enforcement and give them military grade equipment. It has been an excuse for the USA to extert military influence on central america. It creates an aftermarket for military equipment that allows the military to keep buying new equipment regularly.

    …

Cannabis is not federally legal, so even in states where its legal, manufacturers/retailers are not able to access standard financial services like bank accounts or paying taxes digitally. Legalization would allow the cannabis industry to leverage cash thats currently a liability in their office safe.

Also there is decades of racism baked into it. Marijuana was specifically chosen to make it sound Mexican. Even in Canada a lot of older cop folks can’t get over it being legal.

  • not now where you can get it at any store.

Please understand, a carton at any store cost north of $200. Drive 1 hour from any major town an you can buy a carton for less than $50 at the rez.

While the majority of the tobacco is illegally sourced through the HA. First Nations Peoples in Canada have asserted their right to produce and sell tobacco. RCMP enforcement has only succeeded in pushing sales to further from major city centers.

Basically restricting locations will just drive more people towards the already flourishing black market supply chain.
