Sadly hexbear doesn’t have a ton of really active comms specific to women. Though at least they’re very aggressive removing misogyny across the instance. It’s been categorically less stressful posting on hexbear vs the rest of lemmy simply because I’m not then checking an inbox with replies/dms calling me ‘removed’ or ‘it’ or other charming insults.

Removing downvotes makes sense too, though I also like keeping them and using them to ban people abusing it. The voter is only visible to admins though.

when I say ‘fediverse’ people think I’m saying ‘fetiverse’ and sometimes they ask if it’s like open source fetlife. 🫠

I’ve been having a ton of fun, I like the cultural exchange a lot.

Personally I don’t care if China has data on me, it’s not like it’s useful for them and I’d rather them than meta or the US government or whoever.

There’s also way more queer/trans content than I was expecting.

I’m also a trans woman, I don’t think you should look for anything specific that went wrong. There was always going to be an out-group to blame for all of societies woes. I’ve been saying since 10/7 that if we’re willing to just accept what’s happening there (in Palestine) then it’s just a matter of time until normalization of dehumanizing people like that blows back in our faces over here.

The last few years have been revelatory. I lost a chunk of my personal friend group after 10/7, it pushed me to instead more actively connect with other trans people in my locality in person. I’ve circulated memes to the effect prior to the election and because of that experience I wasn’t surprised to see liberals jumping right to blaming trans people for their failures after this election.

Mutual aid and solidarity across impacted groups is going to be important in the years ahead. All we can do is be prepared as best we can and look to our allies and whatever community we can build.

Can tell you right now that routinely in my city (in America) car drivers lose their shit at cyclists doing critical mass type things. The motive you suggested may exist and it may all have been a pretext, but it’s not unexpected when it comes to roadways. They don’t allow cyclists on the highways around me at least.

I’ve been doing antiwar protests since Iraq- absolutely massive and totally ignored by the government. It was a bit radicalizing.

I’ve always considered myself an anarchist. These days I get called a tankie just for being opposed to wars and vocally opposing my own governments complicity in genocide. Somehow the meaning of tankie got flipped to mean the people opposed to sending in the tanks. Most ml’s I’ve known are the first people to shit on Khrushchev anyways.
