Memes@lemmygrad.ml•Anyone know if it's actually feasible to fire Molotov cocktails out of a potato cannon?
0·5 days agoEh, I completely disagree. The fact that they’re easy to improvise doesn’t make it a waste of time/effort to devise ways to use them more effectively.
The simplicity and accessibility of Molotovs are certainly their main strengths, but their limited range is undoubtedly one of their greatest drawbacks.
The problem all short-range weapons is that you have to be relatively close to your target in order to use them effectively. The closer you are to your target, the more risk you assume.
Moreover, creating reliable a long(er)-range variant of the Molotov cocktail would allow people to strike deeper into enemy territory without having to find ways to breach security perimeters and personally venture behind enemy lines where the risk of being captured or killed is far greater.
Also, if it weren’t worthwhile to innovate ways to improve upon hand-thrown munitions, RPGs wouldn’t exist.

0·5 days agoInteresting. That does make sense.
Follow up question: Assuming the projectile were hypothetically strong enough to survive being fired out of the air cannon and still shatter upon impact… what if one were to place something like a hot hookah coal on top of the gas-soaked wick enclosed within the tea-ball?
Would a burning coal whizzing through the air heat up enough to either re-ignite the wick mid-air, and/or to simply ignite all the gas upon impact?
I can’t speak for anyone but myself, but this is definitely what I do when I can’t sleep

That’s awesome!! Thanks for teaching me something!
