Never seen the movies but I 100% would change lanes to avoid driving behind a log truck. I do it for other trucks, too, if they’re carrying what look like barely-strapped-down loads.
I never even considered that this wouldn’t be a common fear lol.

Now imagine if there were an early 2000s Sims MMO but it’s just a chatroom with limited house design gameplay and a focus on career progression.
Or maybe one where you wash up in the bayou and deal with vampires by getting a cookbook on how to make chocolate which, of course, cures vampirism, and you get arrested for running because Daddy Bigbucks took over the city and made it illegal while he works on his time machine to stake a land claim in the past, leading you to build your own time machine to stop him. Unless you buy the console version instead of the handheld, in which case maybe some rap group popular in the 2000s could score the game and one of the rappers, say, will.i.am, could help the player learn new dance moves to get into clubs.
Or maybe they could take the Sims 2: Pets expansion and spin it off into 3 different standalone games with the same name that differ by console, like one where it’s just a more advanced version of the Sims 2: Pets, but in another you play as a vet and treat cats and dogs for various diseases, while in another you learn new tricks to teach your pet as you lead them through competitions. They could even spin off a spa sequel from the vet one.
Maybe they could make a spinoff where you create up to 6 sims who get washed up on an island a la Castaway and have to explore and build transports to get to subsequent islands with the goal of escaping back to civilization.
Or maybe even one where all the sims are chibis and you have to redevelop a rundown town using building blocks instead of a catalog, with 5 of its own spinoffs, including another Medieval!
Could have a couple freemium phone versions with zero sim autonomy where you can buy premium furniture items to become a VIP user and events require waiting real-world time to complete.
Truly, the possibilities available to Maxis (RIP) are endless!
Yeah, it used to snow here on Halloween now and then. Haven’t seen a Halloween snow since a bit before COVID, iirc.

Is it the ! that properly links a comm? I hadn’t tried before, was wondering why mine just gave mail to links.

When I search “Ontario” I see Ontario@lemmy.ca with 231 MAU. kingston_ontario@lemmy.ca has 35 and Goderich@lemmy.ca about a dozen.
Yeah, KOTOR definitely has its flaws (especially the sequel by Obsidian, which I prefer), but I enjoyed replaying through the KOTOR games a few years ago. On the flip side, that same year I tried to get into ME1 for the second time — having dropped it a bit after I got to the Citadel the first time — and I dropped it again around the same point. It just doesn’t do it for me. I also couldn’t get into any Dragon Age games post-Origins.

Yeah, I was (and am) a pretty avid gamer and I didn’t know that it wasn’t just a tablet for the Wii until years later when it came up on some podcast where they were like “yeah, doesn’t help that everyone just thought it was a new accessory for the Wii”. A large number of other kids that I knew had Wiis. I never knew anyone who even mentioned the Wii U irl.
I’m also just now finding out that the 3DS apparently wasn’t just the newest DS model like the DS->DSi? lol

Funny, I’m on the eastern side of the upper Midwest, grew up suburban/rural. The phrasing reminds me of using “learn” in place of “teach”, which I’m familiar with the concept of but haven’t heard used unironically.
Edit: I’ve been saying sentences with “borrow me [thing]” out loud and it’s possible that I just haven’t registered folks using it, rather than having never heard it. It sounds off but not alien.

fwiw I’ve never heard someone say that they can borrow someone something before. Might be a regional thing.

fwiw I’m nearly 30 and I’ve never heard that phrase in my life. Maybe a regional thing?

Ohhh, that’s where “dime you out” comes from.
Lol I looked the post up after seeing the meme a couple days ago. The user has been made aware that they’re now somewhat internet famous.

I haven’t heard that term before, but I have noticed “hipster” being used less in recent years.
This is the first I’m hearing about it, so now I’m doubly confused lol.
