Damn, Chinese must party really hard. I wished everyone happy new year and went to bed minutes after midnight. Here you are keeping the party alive nearly a month later!

Happy new year!
Old ID would make deathmatch mode with single player maps. Everything is fun when pressing shift makes you move at Mach 2 speeds.
It is priced very competitively and seems to be the most streamlined MiSTer package by far. I didn’t expect founders edition to be still in stock hours after it went live because you’d pay twice as much for such a package normally.
How can you still hate it? It’s been enough time to discover that it’s the greatest love story since Sam and Frodo.
To me it’s gambling even if you can’t exchange it for currency because the things players are gambling on have worth to them and psychological mechanism is exactly the same. If the law didn’t catch up in some place yet it doesn’t make it any less wrong.
There’s no way to trade loot boxes between players but there’s gambling on consoles in the same way as on PC. Even if you count Steam Marketplace transactions fee there’s definitely plenty of EA Football Club players on consoles offsetting this.
I think we haven’t seen anything other than the shape of the thing so it sounds pretty alarmist. Remember all the sensors packed into Joycons that nobody uses anymore? It enabled stuff like Nintendo Labo and other neat toys. We’ve only seen that the new Joycons have an optical sensor so far. Who knows what else is there and how is it going to get used.
Looks like Nintendo quickly whipped out a video that shows only the things that leaked so far. Way more interested in the announced Nintendo Direct where we’ll see actual new stuff probably.
It is very stupid to use a centralized digital coin to avoid taxes while you can just avoid declaring what you earned when you get cash instead of digital payments
Does your revenue service have a way of monitoring this or would they have to verify each case manually? This is an obfuscation mechanism.
I’m not sure what this means
Are they checking if their business partners are on sanctions lists, as required by law? How many people at Sardex are hired and accountable for compliance with anti-money laundering and counter-terrorism financing regulations?
In your country companies are legally required and accountable for making sure their user are paying taxes? Here they are required traceability and stuff but it’s not their job to do the guardia di finanza job.
I’m not asking who’s collecting taxes but who’s making sure they’re paying taxes. In EU and most of the civilised world banks would be liable if they were aware or didn’t do enough due diligence to spot that.
This is not a bias against Italy, it’s a bias against businessmen. This happening in Sicily just makes for a funnier context.
Who in this financial setup is legally required and accountable for making sure they are paying taxes? Are they checking for sanctions? What are the consequences of not being compliant? Has anyone ever been found to be not compliant?
I still have trouble understanding what problem does Sardex solve (which is flat out a red flag in context of AML). It’s described that it allows for lending activity as well as barter. For all the talk of not being a currency it is one because that’s the only new thing that it brings to the table. You can do all of those things with bank relegated to holding cash at hand only.
And for all those dubious benefits, it certainly helps with all the pesky due diligence that a regular bank does on the behalf of the government. I wasn’t born yesterday - this is done to obfuscate anything from tax avoidance to human trafficking.
This sounds like mafia is replacing government currency with their own. How is taxation handled? Is it legal because it can’t be exchanged into EUR officially?
I finally finished On the Silver Globe. What started out as an amazingly ambitious sci-fi for being shot in the late 70s, it falls of a cliff after the prologue. It’s probably budget constraints but later parts are something between way too artsy theatre play and a Burning Man festival. Watch first half an hour and then go check out stills from the rest of the movie because scene compositions and art direction is insane. Alternatively just watch a modern trailer, leave everything to imagination and skip it entirely.
