I’m refering to the way society/Hollywood has a rotating cast of villains, people who are just allowed to hate and not feel bad when the hero murders them, from Native Americans, to Dr. Fu Manchu to Nazis to commies, to mimes, to arab terrorists.
A more complete thought would be that before we irrationally hated on and dehumanized arab terrorists, we irrationally hated on and dehumanized mimes.

Ask a neurotypical person. I have no idea. It makes little sense to me why you’re ability to do something would be judged by your ability to recall and talk about a time you did something. I know there’s a lot of things I can do and have done, but I don’t remember doing them in the past because my brain just doesn’t index things that way. And especially when you’re expected to come up with answers on the spot. Like I could probably come up with something I really did if you gave me at least a few inutes.
Because I ruminate on my failures a lot, those are easy to recall. So sometimes, in a pinch, I’ll talk about that situation as if I’d actually done the thing I was supposed to have done.
It is pretty wild when you realize there is 0% checking of all those, " Tell us about a time when" stories. You can absolutely 100% lie, and as long as you’re not misrepresenting your abilities in a way that would be caught out,
Also nuts that you’re supposed to be present as an inhumanly perfect thing, a robot.
I’m reporting as someone who grew up in the 1980’s, when mimes were widely despised, and this comic is clearly an example. There was some anti-arab media in the 80’s, but it really picked up in the 90s.
Job interviews are all about making the interviewer like you, and the best strategy is pretending you like them. That and all the casual deception and lying expected of applicants is difficult to pull of if you’re socially neurodivergent.

Meh. Seems like they went as slowly and carefully as they could. It’s not great. I wonder if they hit the guy that’s in front of them and this is them fleeing the scene.

The podcast If Books Could Kill covered Atomic Habits, and they had a similar critique: They thought it would be helpful for exactly the kind of person that really wouldn’t need to buy a book about it, and useless to everyone else.
It reminds me of a lot of simple diet advice, like smaller portions or subsititutions with less fat or sugar.

It’s a little joke among filmmakers and sound guys, and frankly, I think it needs to stop. It’s a huge illusion break for an audience that’s figured it out.

I thought tech companies were OpenAI’s major customers, and they certainly could make their own data centers for internal work, and that coders–that minority of users–were the only ones likely to pay full price for tokens, the rest of us wouldn´t be willing to pay full fare for a machine that is right most of the time sort of. Thanks for setting me straight on that.
You may or may not be the right person to ask but: why the heck is so much classical music mixed so low? Some albums I don’t even listen to in the car because I can’t hear them very well. And I’m talking about CD’s specifically, I’m sure Spotify remixes everything up the same way TV advertisements do.

Competence would require pointing out flaws someone else is responsible for, which would certainly enganger your career eventually. So, not only is competence unnecessary in management, it is actively selected against.
