2·1 day agoI get your point, but I have a nitpick. This is not about China or Russia but rather about Xi and Putin. It’s about their personal power and enrichment, what’s best for their countries or the people don’t matter to them.

Europe@feddit.org•Europe’s far right seizes on protest violence to push authoritarian anti-immigration agendaEnglish
3·1 day agoThe link works fine here. And the article names several examples.
You’ll find numerous more across the web. A policy paper from May 2026, Borrowed mouths and laundered messages: China’s influence playbook in Europe (pdf), is another one.
From Classrooms to Newsrooms: The Conduits of Chinese FIMI in the Western Balkans is analyzing China’s foreign interference for this particular region.

4·1 day agoAlice Weidel, the head of Germany’s far-right AfD who lived in China for six years, has close ties to China. Not long ago she admitted to frequently met Wu Keng, who was China’s ambassador to Germany from 2019 to 2024. When the meeting became public, Weidel said that after Russia’s full-scale war in Ukraine, she wanted to get “an idea of the Chinese position”. These meetings were not included in her calendar and were supposed to remain secret. It is unclear whether or not they still take place.
Just last year ago, an aide of Germany’s far-right AfD politician Maximilian Krah was convicted of spying for China.
These are two examples. There are many more with extremist groups of both sides. As one report wrote not long ago, it is a Marriage of Convenience: How the European Far Right and Far Left Converged on China,
Both extremes of Europe’s political spectrum are finding common ground in their alignments with China, raising concerns about foreign influence.
