I’ve heard the easy care sheep aren’t as easy care as one might think.

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•What happens to phone numbers that were used for spam?English
2·7 days agoLike others, my phone number was targeted and spoofed. I got 7-10 callbacks that day. Hasn’t happened since.

22·7 days agoIt can live there until they get a government request from the United States to take it down. It’s like they’re asking for the same recognition that led the privacy conscious to not trust them…again.
I know fundamentally they’re trying to do good. Be in solidarity with what they promised to their users.

Linus Tech Tips (Unofficial)@discuss.online•This video was pain and sufferingEnglish
1·11 days agoOh it was pain and suffering. I understand that there can always be issues with setting up zigbee or zwave devices. Zooz didn’t sponsor that video and I wanted to say that I’ve had nothing but solid connections and near zero issues with the 9+ Zooz devices running in my home right now. Out of 28 devices I think my most problematic one has been the Ring stuff (minus the door/window sensors, those are GOATed). I also have Innovelli switches - which Linus also put them into a bad light (pun intended) at first. Hey at least the GE/Jasco video convinced me never to use them for anything. Their Cinc shit sucks, too.
Granted my setup is different and everyone’s mileage may vary, but if you do it right you shouldn’t have to worry about it again.
Does Homey allow you to pair with Smart Start and the DSK? It looked too simple to be true.
IDK, I know HoneAssistant isn’t for everyone and Homey, Domitica, and the others are trying to make it simpler and I appreciate that, but it’s going to take some trial and error.

science@lemmy.world•Dangerous trends of sexual choking among young peopleEnglish
11·13 days ago(just in case, I didn’t read much past the statement in my first comment) I interpreted that sentence as an in-the-moment situation, leaving judgement and biases out. If someone dies from breath play with unwritten/unrecorded consent there’s (typically) one other person present and no recordings, so it’s their word against the defense.
There’s plenty of times where someone has been choked during sexual interaction, didn’t give consent, and never speaks of it again. Some cases (unfortunately) don’t stop there.

Technology@lemmy.world•Solar Surpasses Nuclear Power Globally for First TimeEnglish
12·14 days agoNuclear power is so cool. After SneakerNet (Sandworm) and Chernobyl Is think a lot of people would be scared of it. I used to think wind power was an awesome source until you look at life expectancy and cost for replacement parts. You can get like 10-15years but a solar farm lasts 25+ before degrading.

science@lemmy.world•Dangerous trends of sexual choking among young peopleEnglish
52·14 days ago“Once consciousness is lost, consent cannot be given or verified.”
Well, yeah no shit. Consent before engagement is consent understanding the potential consequences. Not giving consent prior to losing consciousness is typically called rape. It’s late and I’m tired so correct me if I’m wrong.
