This really reads like FUD to manufacture consent for abandoning emissions reduction.
And it’s published on news.com.au, a Murdoch property.
EDIT: This fucker developed a short within like an hour of my closing the case back up. Now I have to either use my multi-meter to learn the entire 130-key matrix, or I have to desolder all the switches and kill the calculator function to turn the board into a hand-wired custom, though that would allow the left side function keys to be different from the top-row ones. Sigh.
Damn it! From a historical preservation perspective I hope you try to restore the original electronics, but I realise that could be a lot of hassle. Good luck whatever route you choose!
Aircraft sign
An airfield is nearby and aircraft may fly over the road at low altitude.

I’m thinking its orientation here might indicate specifically that planes make a descending approach over this road?
WTF is a “graffiti attack”?

Unicomp still makes this extra-chunky layout in a buckling spring: https://www.pckeyboard.com/mm5/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=UB40B5A
Why would you event need a mouse with that many arrow keys!?

Looks like a good turnout for the short notice!
EDIT: I found an article from the Courier Mail (archive to not give Murdoch any clicks): https://archive.is/RoMuh
They estimate around 100 protesters.
I still gotta get a tape player
Sincere question: Why? They sound terrible, and get worse over time. Is there any reason to use them? Aren’t they just generating plastic waste at this point?
The article says:
To me the reasoning is simple, local bands make tapes, it’s easy to put your own music on them, and to share them with friends.
But all of these apply equally to Bandcamp or any other way of sharing digital files, or even CDs (I can’t imagine it’s meaningfully easier to churn out copies of cassettes than CDs).
I suppose, though, that if local bands are making them - whatever their reasons - then that’s reason enough for a listener to use the format. I also guess if people are getting second-hand tapes, then that’s not generating new plastic waste, and there’s probably stuff to that’s not available digitally in any format.
Anyway, I was watching this video recently - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2DWtkSVNvTg - and it was quite interesting, but I’ve been wondering since then why people would use tapes.
Yeah, with ABC articles the last couple of years, generally the headline that appears on the page itself is far better than the sharing metadata headline.
Fuck this, the response needs to be swift and overwhelming, it has to be made clear that people won’t put up with this bullshit from the LNP.
While reading your comment I immediately thought of this company that’s using hydrofoils to overcome the energy requirements in their watercraft: https://candela.com/p-12-shuttle/ Also, recent video here of a trial usage of it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5fqnbskTAjI Very cool.
I see that that article does actually mention hydrofoils (and seems to link to a video with one), but the specific product they mention is the Sea-Doo Rise which is a board, not a ‘scooter’ style vehicle (video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GthLd2i01uk). That one seems to be a dead product, though.
I did find some hydrofoiling electric jet skis, though:
Fun fact: Sussan Ley added an extra ‘s’ to her name because of numerology.
In terms of names determining futures, some politicians change theirs, to master their own destiny. Disgraced former Health Minister Sussan Ley added that superfluous third “s”. In 2015, she told the Australian newspaper: “I read about this numerology theory that if you add the numbers that match the letters in your name you can change your personality … If you added an ‘s’ I’d have an incredibly exciting, interesting life and nothing would ever be boring.” Careful what you wish for.

It’s reportedly ‘dead’ now, which is to say that it’s started to break up. So this is the final time anybody will ever see it, which is weird to think about since the last time anyone saw it was about 180,000 years ago.

Good riddance!
I agree with your comment entirely, so you may be misunderstanding the point I was making.
I agree it’s not surprising there’s been a rise in anti-jewish racism, especially since the Israeli state consistently tries to muddy the waters and conflate itself with jewish people in general (which is fucked).
The comment I was replying to (“Maybe if they stopped genociding people?”) appears to uncritically accept this conflation and the racist falsehood that the whole ethnic communities being targeted in these incidents are inherently connected or responsible for Israel’s genocide, and that needs to be called out.

Would probably usually post this sort thing to c/news, but posted in c/Australia seeing as two other articles on the matter were posted there.
While I was looking for a Christ the Redeemer keycap (posted pic in another comment) I came across another statue keycap that is even pointier than the one in the original post:
