I must have walked at least 5k yesterday, probably my longest walk in a year. I’m a bit tired but also glad my back isn’t sore from it. 🙂

Yeah, I’ve hurt my knee. Pes anserine bursitis at a very educated guess. Got a bag of Epsom salt glad wrapped to it… And elevated.

I didn’t know you could use Epsom salts like that, it honestly never occurred to me. Does it work well? I’ve always just dissolved it in a bath.

Apparently using them like that can also help to remove a splinter. It didn’t work for me, but that’s probably because the “splinter” turned out to be a small stick requiring surgical intervention. But the whole osmotic pressure thing is supposed to work on normal splinters.

It’s magnesium sulfate, mangnoplam splinter gel is pretty much Epsom and a carrier like solugel or Sorbonne.

It creates some osmotic pressure to pull edema. It’s a bit of an old timey solution. Whenever I recommend it to clients I was sure to inform them that the science was weak. It’s cheap, low risk and easy to self manage. I was always bad at the business part of being a therapist.

I’ve been to Whistler Blackcomb a couple of times. That’s really all I know of Canada.

So based on that limited experience, 6/5 Hobbits

Whistler is the Gold Coast of Canada.

Holidays for some locals and many foreigners, not looked down upon, but not really celebrated

If you want to know about Canada, ask away. Apart from recent stuff, cause I’ve lived here for two decades now.

As weird as it may sound, Aussie culture is closer to British and American culture, than Canadian culture is to both those.

Canada shook away it’s British roots quite a bit (wtf is cricket anyway) and tried to distance itself culturally from America due to proximity.

However Canadian humour and Aussie humour is very different, but appealing to each other.

Oh yeah they’re different types of humour but mutually intelligible 😂 my uncle is Canadian (partner to my aunt/dad’s sister) and it’s definitely evident, but still funny and on point!

And it isn’t weird at all, Aussie humour is its own thing but very very heavily influenced by Britain and the USA for sure!

Aussie sarcasm and shit talking for the fun of it, is second to none.

Brits do it in a condescending way, but Aussies do it more egalitarian. None one is safe, and everyone can be made fun off.

Canadian sarcasm is not far off just more polite.

American sarcasm is reserved for those who can think…so not enough.

    Severance spoiler

1 Feel so sorry for Irv. Betrayed by Burt! Is Burt not severed? Seems he was a Lumon employee even before severance, and even though his innie (maybe!) is is no longer working there he’s loyal and Lumon called in a favour to get Irv to go out so they could search Irvs house?

2 Helena is so evil. She revels in her power.

3 Reghabi is hiding something. Why is she so desperate to get Mark integrated fast even if it might kill him. She’s not trying to help Mark. She’s using him.

4 I still don’t know any more about the goats. WHEN WILL WE FIND OUT MORE ABOUT THE GOATS.

So glad I can unload here because SO MANY THOUGHTS
      1. Omg my heart broke for Irving. Burt is a very good actor if he isn’t severed… For now, I do think he is severed, but he may have been involved in the development of the chip perhaps? They do make it seem like he is still in cahoots with Lumon. Between Burt keeping tabs on him and the company probably knowing Irving’s background with military skills, they’ve come up with a very convincing reason to get him out of the house long enough to gain info from his belongings and maybe from talking to him too. Anyway, innie Irving and Burt were so pure, I want to hold onto that for as long as possible 😭

      2. Helena is such a SNAKE. Which is why I was so overjoyed that Helly finally had some happiness this episode and took back her agency. I couldn’t bear to see things between her and Mark remain icy for much longer. Kudos to iMark for having the courage to fess up. And his response when she asked whether it was different with Helena. 🤭🥰 Of course they’re just going to set us up to break our hearts here all over again but I’ll enjoy it for now…

      3. Hard agree but really uncertain what she’s using him for. Seems like she wants to get to the exports elevator too. I think that black hallway is going to be the big mystery connecting through to season 3. I reckon won’t get away with hiding her motives much longer now that Devon’s on the scene

      4. … I personally hope they never give us an answer about the goats 🐐 that’s how I like em!

      And to add to that:

      1. Oh no, outie Dylan’s days are numbered.

    I think I saw a wattlebird today.

The bin for compost arrived today but the rotary tool to drill holes isn’t here yet. I wonder if I might not be biting off more than I can chew in terms of physical work. Ugh. I would much rather stay in bed with furbaby.

Also look out - Melbcat has been tasting tiny pieces of Marie biscuit and is actually eating them. Next she’ll be sipping my tea!

That was an alright sort of day. Feel like I’ve been operating on autopilot… anyway it’s good to be home to a pre-cooled lounge room, time to heat up a hearty dinner and enjoy this week’s tv! My favourite thing about Fridays atm 🥳

What’s everyone’s plans for the weekend? I’ve got to list these dang little items on fbm before my rental inspection in two weeks, and probably do more bulk cooking. Nothing much else otherwise. Try and finish Juice, I guess

Another Saturday chill day person? People often assume I prefer to have active Saturdays and chill Sundays like many others, maybe a hangover from when Sundays were for rest and church and all that but I desperately need my sleep-in and recovery day on Saturday, not Sunday.

Shopping tomorrow early as possible at Southland for groceries and a click and collect.

Staying cool and catching up Severance if I don’t get to it tonight.

I think cricket match might be on tomorrow so I’ll try and catch that too.

At the moment I have no idea what groceries I want to get so that’s a bit of a bother.

Is it that you’re not sure what you’d like to cook for the next few days? Maybe get whatever’s on special and make up something out of it, that’s often fun.

This week’s Severence was really emotional and definitely moving some characters forward, I’d be keen to hear your thoughts.

I don’t have much of an ide a what I want to eat for the next week or so. Usually I have some sort of an idea but I’m sort of drawing blanks.

My favourite was the guy interested in my $5 fishing net, who asked if I could post it and told me he didn’t need the handle so I could cut it off with a hacksaw.

I’m a definite fan of giving stuff away, but stuff you can’t just drop down at the op shop is a pain. I’ve found if I put a low price on there will often be competition to take it off my hands, but some items seem to just bring out crazy people no matter what you do. The fishing net was a bit wild, I was totally flooded with enquiries for that one. According to the guy that bought it it’s a really good net for boat fishing because it’s really deep and has a lip you can use to pull the boat towards you, but I still think the 30+ enquiries I was flooded with in the first few hours is a bit odd.
