This is what the people wanted, so let them have it. They will leave a polluted, ever hotter husk to their dim-witted and suffering children. Good for them! I’ve made sure I haven’t reproduced, so I’ll just enjoy what I can while I’m able. They’ve decided on their children’s inheritance, who am I to argue?

“30% of a wealthy nation wanted a fascist, so everyone should suffer” is wildly cruel.

Honestly, the suffering was going to happen either way. We’ve been spewing carbon into the atmosphere for, what, five decades now? We were already further along on the worst case scenario than most models accounted for and it’s been continuing to accelerate. I don’t mean to sound defeatist but like, the Titanic has been sinking for a long time, all this one election decided is how much time we have to get to the lifeboats and wait for the ocean to swallow us.

I was already not planning on having kids or retirement in 2015, that sure hasn’t changed with everything that’s happened since. I feel for everyone who will be affected by climate catastrophe (i.e. everyone) but like, we have been sowing for that harvest since before I was born.

Well children are alive today who are going to be effected, and need as much harm mitigation as they can get.

That’s a terrible summary of my statement. I didn’t say I agree, I said it has happened, the course is set. This one election in one country isn’t the root cause, even if they are accelerationists. The world is a cruel place, always has been. I’m done spending my energy worrying about it, I’m resigned to humanity’s well-earned fate.

hard for me to accept this sort of venting, i guess. seems far too harmful and self destructive.

Problem with that is it translates to.

Fuck the poor nations. Let the rich voters fuck um over with climate catastraphies while they close their borders to tefugees.

Wealthy nations have the least to fear.

The rest of this century is only going to get progressively worse for everyone, regardless. Wealthy nations, as a whole, will not be spared. Oligarchs, including the wealthy from “poor” nations, will be able to extend their time of comfort, but it will catch up with them to.

Century is a long time. Those who voted for this crap will not live to suffer.

Many poor nations are suffering today. And will likely collapse into failed states during those voters lifetimes.

So yes there is a difference between rich or poor. As living in the wealthy we get to not make your decendents suffer. These voters forget some are already suffering and are happy to ignore it. As I said wealthy nations will be the last to suffer. And suffer the least.

More then billionaires. But way way less then those the west has stripped of resources and competative ability since the 1800s.
