Considering how they treated the Aenar, it shouldn’t be too difficult for them to wrap their antennae around.

Isn’t one of the recurring things in star trek to show that the federation generally understands that alien cultures can offend and be offended out of a lack of understanding?

Also, “pink skin” isn’t any less offensive, the point being to reduce the other to their skin color because it is different. He doesn’t come from earth and as such isn’t saying those things with any different meaning.

I mean, Shran was always a bit condescending, but he gained a lot of respect for Archer very early on.

He just kept going on with his initial slur for humans in a fun, non-hating way.

Yes, but my point is that from his perspective, there is no difference between pink or any other human skin color, because he says that out of a human social context.

So any form of offense that he projects is unrelated to the nuance of human skin color, but about the difference between humans and andorians. Whether it is hating or not, it is the same no matter the human’s skin color, and so it would be absurd for Sisko to get offended more than Archer (if anything, he should get less offended, since he isn’t a space-primitive human like Archer, and is part of a multi-species federation that understands the challenge in communication between alien species)

I thought it was funny how alternate future Jake Sisko was married to I think the only black Bajoran I’ve seen in DS9. I guess they were willing to let him date outside his species, but not his race.

I mean, for Shran it would’ve made his fierce diplomatic approaches a wee bit easier if we did. 🤷‍♀️

That Faux pas is entirely on us.
