PSA (I honestly don’t know anyone else who does this) the Android version of Firefox supports the uBlock origin extension (among other things) and plays YouTube videos perfectly fine.

I haven’t had to watch a single ad on YouTube on my phone for years and well over a decade on any PC or Mac.

Because you insist on using Chrome and can’t install Ublock Origin and Sponsorblock.

    The self-flagellation continues.

Don’t need sponsorblock I think, or maybe I’m just not watching videos where it’s needed. Just ublock origin.

For anyone that doesn’t know, SponsorBlock is just a extension where someone marks a part of video as:

        • Sponsor (/Ad)
        • Self Promotion
        • Interaction Reminder
        • Highlight (to skip to)
        • Intermission/Intro Animation
        • Endcards/Credits
        • Preview/Recap
        • Hook/Greetings
        • Tangents/Jokes
        • Non-Music Sections (in Music Videos)

You can then set what it’ll do for each caregory: auto skip, put a button you click to skip, color the seek bar, or obviously just do nothing but let the video continue normally.

It’s so nice, I actually use it most for auto-skipping intermissions in recordings of live content these days… It even records how much in total: I’ve skipped 9688 segments (totalling 14 days 15 hours 3.5 minutes) since I installed it.

Sponsorblock definitely helps on the in-video ad reads if they’re excessive or irrelevant. Ublock won’t get those.

I recently found sponsorblock through another youtube bitching post months ago and found it was just as amazing as ad blocking. Sometimes it doesnt get them all, but it hits most and saves minutes sometimes off of watching. I absolutely think its a must have now.

You kinda have to be a psychopath to take a Laptop to the kitchen, unless you place it super far away from everything and always wash your hands before typing that keyboard will get super nasty. The kitchen is Tablet territory because you can just wipe it clean after.
