    One would think that banned content couldn’t be voted upon. Sounds like reddit is using any excuse to censor any use other than “sponsored”.

      I got suspended because I was banned from a sub years ago on a different account, and I can’t block that subreddit. Accidentally commented on r/all, instantly suspended for ‘ban evasion’. I didn’t make a secret of the alt account, I made it to avoid doxxing. I didn’t want to comment on the subreddit, I’d block it from my feed if I could. Reddit knew I was banned and could have just kept me from posting there in the first place. Instead, suspension for evasion. Their whole setup is truly bizarre.

      Anyway it dramatically reduced my doomscrolling so it wasn’t a bad thing

    Reddit has seen an increase in rule-breaking posts across “several communities,” and it has issued a temporary ban on one that featured users calling for violence against people who work for the Elon Musk-led Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).

    That community, r/WhitePeopleTwitter, was given a 72-hour ban on Tuesday, as reported by Engadget. Screenshots shared on X show multiple examples of the threatening posts. Musk later reposted the screenshots, claiming that the users have “broken the law.”

    In a note on the subreddit, Reddit says it was banned “due to a prevalence of violent content” and that “inciting and glorifying violence or doxing” violate Reddit’s rules. An unnamed Reddit admin said the ban was meant to be a “cooling-off period” for the community.

    Reddit also gave a full ban to a subreddit called r/IsElonDeadYet for violating rules “against posting violent content.” The unnamed admin said Reddit is taking steps “to ensure all communities can provide a safe environment for healthy conversation” in a post on r/RedditSafety.

        Tom from MySpace taking the money and enjoying life away from the limelight instead of seeking more wealth and power seems more along the lines of what most people fantasize about when it comes to what they’d do if they were rich. All the other rich fucks actively go out of their way to make as many people as miserable as possible.

    It’s horrifying especially to think how Reddit never did anything about the fucked up things incels would say they wanted to do to underage girls and women, or the literally jailbait, racist, insanity they’d share. Basically that stuff was always okay, but if you want to defend yourself against your oppressor? Banned for upvoting despite you didn’t even think the comment was “bannable”.

    Friendly reminder that almost all news media outlets and social media platforms are owned by a handful of extremely wealthy individuals and they are in full control of the algorithm that feeds you content, so you’ll likely never see anything that is critical of them or advocates for them to have less power or influence than they do.

    This is the 2025 version of “The revolution won’t be televised”.

    I just created a Lemmy account because of this stupid policy. Republicans/Conservatives can spew all manner of hate without consequence and we upvote “Elbows Up” (a hockey term BTW) and we get banned? Screw that.

    Exactly the same. I got critical of the right and all of a sudden banned for violence ? After 12 years ? And me NEVER calling for harm to anything.

    But I got hyper critical of the right and that’s what did it.

    Reddit is and has failed.

      They’re selective about who’s protected by that rule too. I got banned for saying shit about child molesters while there was simultaneously a thread on the front page with people saying the same shit about a business executive. Those comments were still up weeks after I appealed my ban asking what the difference was. Never got an answer.
