The initiative, dubbed “Operation Protect the Vote,” comes in the lead-up to the midterm elections, where the Trump administration is making good on threats to weaponize the Justice Department and other federal entities in its favor over claims of supposed voter fraud. On Tuesday, the federal government sent election officials in Los Angeles County an unverified list of 20,000 people it claims are “likely noncitizens” registered to vote in California. As the New York Post first reported Monday, federal agents used the list to make the more than two dozen targeted arrests on the basis of its voter fraud allegations.
The Justice Department said in its Monday press release that federal law enforcement arrested “11 foreign nationals” against whom it will level criminal charges, including that they “fraudulently registered to vote in U.S. elections, electoral contests in which most of them cast illegal and fraudulently obtained ballots.”
The 11 arrestees are among 28 people the department officially charged—and all are from its list of 20,000 targets in the election. The press release claims that every person targeted is a legal permanent resident of the US but not a citizen.

Also, what goes unmentioned, is that most of the people they’ve caught cheating at voting, have voted republican. The democratic leadership doesn’t even mention or advertise the fact.
Idk about immigrants, but voter fraud is mostly for republicans, but the news just repeats it’s not enough to sway an election, as if it was all for dems.
Can we get some goddamned fighters in office? Why do we have these milquetoast sell outs in charge? Obviously we already mostly know why I’m just saying.
You’re probably right on why if it goes back to oligarchs and money. heh. But we do have some, the problem is the system is set up to enhance rather than quell opposition. It takes less than a majority to stop legislation. It takes more than a majority to pass it. Since we’ve somehow managed to be around half and half for more than a couple of decades now, it truly takes comrpromise to get anything done. So at most, only weak things - like ACA (Obamacare) vs. universal health care / single pay - get done. Even with people fighting.
That said, we certainly do not have a full majority of fighters as over time the corruption has spread and a majority of our politicians are essentially on the dole, yes.
The main thing I would say if you’re trying to refrain from losing ALL hope is: Look to the DSA. Not even specifically that organization per se, but the activity surrounding it is a nexus of actual progressive progress against the encroaching fascism.
The most important part is to support outside of the actual electrions - from primaries to funding where possible to canvassing to protesting to even arguing on social media platforms against all the defeatism out there.
We’re fighting an uphill battle. The media downplays any Democrat success and gives fascists passes because that’s what the oligarch owners want. It seems like everything is against us, but… it’s only MOSTLY against us. heh.
I think seeing successes in places like NYC will help show people that progressives CAN do good things when they get actual control. If we can get that translated into enough national support, maybe we can save our country.
