The initiative, dubbed “Operation Protect the Vote,” comes in the lead-up to the midterm elections, where the Trump administration is making good on threats to weaponize the Justice Department and other federal entities in its favor over claims of supposed voter fraud. On Tuesday, the federal government sent election officials in Los Angeles County an unverified list of 20,000 people it claims are “likely noncitizens” registered to vote in California. As the New York Post first reported Monday, federal agents used the list to make the more than two dozen targeted arrests on the basis of its voter fraud allegations.
The Justice Department said in its Monday press release that federal law enforcement arrested “11 foreign nationals” against whom it will level criminal charges, including that they “fraudulently registered to vote in U.S. elections, electoral contests in which most of them cast illegal and fraudulently obtained ballots.”
The 11 arrestees are among 28 people the department officially charged—and all are from its list of 20,000 targets in the election. The press release claims that every person targeted is a legal permanent resident of the US but not a citizen.
Conservatives have complete control of the government. They can stop the fascism anytime they like. They won’t, because ALL conservatives are fascist. Always have been.
We need to completely exclude conservatives from polite society. They should be denied service absolutely everywhere. They truly are pure evil and will never, ever stop oppressing everyone around them.
They have a deep need to oppress others. They need to be dealt with as the threat to humanity they are.
I 100% support unending public shaming of conservatives.
20k names
dozens of arrests
11 charges
Absolute fucking nonsense that tax dollars are being spent on this.
As long as it makes good headline, 11 charges for voter fraud. … Then the less informed never read more and go, good job Trump, I didn’t think I could worship a guy with so much makeup and lies but here I am. Okay I embellished a bit at the end, but they really only read the 11, out of millions of votes, like I could piss in a lake and have less density of that. But oh no, he’s a crusader for our bigotry!
Seriously the USA needs a revolution again, they want to be accepting they want to be Nazi Germany, pick a lane so we know to accept or condem you all. For reference you’re on the naughty stool till we can figure it out, or you go all axis of evil.
Oh Trump is having meetings with Putin and Xi, not much time for Americans to have their word in before being Nazi lazy version 2.0 it seems.
Seriously do the Americans want to be under a fascist dictatorship? Y’all helped win a war to say no to that. Their ancestors, some grandparents some great grandparents etc died to make sure it wouldn’t happen. Fuck anyone who makes it happen, and fuck the current US administration, bunch of fascist idiots. The only saving glory is they’re all fucking morons, eveb the ones with good ideas, Russel Vought, Stephen Miller, some of the people pushing their ideas through. Make sure everyone knows their names they’re vampires of society (mean look at miller) and just want to suck anything good of it out.
Let’s understand each other come to an understanding, which is something these fascist fucks don’t understand. That alone is more power than they’ll ever understand if we can beat it.
Not American but I don’t like fascism…go figure.
Also sorry bit of a rant but I hate fascist fuckers like anyone in charge of the US now.
Yes, and threatened, criminal prosecutions for not letting the feds cancel votes without evidence, despite the fact that States Run their own Elections. As per the constitution.
This is in your face election rigging to those of us in reality, a dwindling and put upon group no doubt.
I, uh, think we might actually have to do the 2nd amendment thing, folks.
The exact reason I have been organizing leftists in my area.
Started as a lgbt support group, we realized how many (to varying degrees) are into prepping, off-grid camping, firearms, and general bushcraftery, and decided to try and get a little more organized, do some training exercises, light emergency drills. Stuff like that.
Literally the only group I’ve ever had that DOESN’T tell me I’m overreacting when I post stuff about how this shit is LITERALLY HAPPENING RIGHT GODDAMN NOW and not “soon”
If shit hits the fan, we do have some semblance of a community to rely on.
I’d never really had the belief I’d need to use the 2nd in my lifetime for it’s intended anti-tyrannical-overreach purposes, but this administration (and it’s previous iteration) made me start questioning that a decade ago.
You know it’s bullshit because voter fraud is a state crime, not federal. Federally there’s not an actual law that says you have to be a citizen to vote at all.
Federally there’s not an actual law that says you have to be a citizen to vote at all.
(a) It shall be unlawful for any alien to vote in any election held solely or in part for the purpose of electing a candidate for the office of President, Vice President, Presidential elector, Member of the Senate, Member of the House of Representatives, Delegate from the District of Columbia, or Resident Commissioner, unless—
(1) the election is held partly for some other purpose [and];
(2) aliens are authorized to vote for such other purpose under a State constitution or statute or a local ordinance; and
(3) voting for such other purpose is conducted independently of voting for a candidate for such Federal offices, in such a manner that an alien has the opportunity to vote for such other purpose, but not an opportunity to vote for a candidate for any one or more of such Federal offices.
California’s voter laws require one to state under penalty of perjury that they are a US citizen to vote, which means any non-citizen trying to vote in California fails part (2) because they are explicitly not authorized to. (And, of course, the Midterms contain federal candidates, triggering “solely or in part”.)
You don’t have to make shit up for Trump to be conducting fascist voter intimidation. He clearly is.
You just proved my point. 1,2, and 3 prove it’s strict intent which would require investigation and moreover an attempt to actually cast a vote which isn’t likely given midterms basically just opened.
Ed: maybe you’re unaware but Californias midterm is not solely federal.
3©:
© Subsection (a) does not apply to an alien if—
(3) the alien reasonably believed at the time of voting in violation of such subsection that he or she was a citizen of the United States.
I can’t believe I have to explain that you don’t have to establish mens rea before making an arrest. 3© is a defense, not something you have to prove wasn’t true before arresting somebody, just like you don’t have to prove someone didn’t act in self-defense before arresting them for killing someone. Mens rea is something that normally gets sorted out in court because it’s usually by far the most difficult part of a prosecution.
Ed: maybe you’re unaware but Californias midterm is not solely federal.
I’m not unaware. The law says “solely or in part”. “in part” satisfies 1(a) and could satisfy 1©, but 1(b) is violated no matter what because in California, you have to be a US citizen to vote in the Midterms.
You’re also conspicuously moving the goalposts from “there is no federal law”. Your nonsense is distracting from what could be actual criticism of these nakedly fascist actions.
You don’t have to develop mens rea before arrest, no. You do have to have a reasonable belief that you could establish it after arrest which again seems unlikely because you need to actually knowingly and willfully vote or attempt to vote to have committed a state or federal violation.
Yes my point is often a midterm will be two ballots fed/state then local. Showing up, identifying and even taking a federal/state ballot is not illegal, even marking it off you’re unaware you couldn’t legally isn’t a crime. Only casting an actual vote knowing it would be unlawful to do so.
There isn’t a federal voter fraud law bud, voter fraud outside of registration is pretty much solely a state issue.
There isn’t a federal voter fraud law bud
This is a) a completely different statement from the provably false one you made before (there go those goalposts again), and b) only half-true. There is a federal law expressly punishing voter fraud when voting for federal candidates, but what is and isn’t fraudulent is delegated to state law.
52 U.S. Code § 20511 - Criminal penalties
A person, including an election official, who in any election for Federal office—
(2) knowingly and willfully deprives, defrauds, or attempts to deprive or defraud the residents of a State of a fair and impartially conducted election process, by—
(A) the procurement or submission of voter registration applications that are known by the person to be materially false, fictitious, or fraudulent under the laws of the State in which the election is held; or
(B) the procurement, casting, or tabulation of ballots that are known by the person to be materially false, fictitious, or fraudulent under the laws of the State in which the election is held,
shall be fined in accordance with title 18 (which fines shall be paid into the general fund of the Treasury, miscellaneous receipts (pursuant to section 3302 of title 31), notwithstanding any other law), or imprisoned not more than 5 years, or both.
It is therefore a federal crime to commit voter fraud to vote for or try to vote for a federal candidate.
But again, taking it back, this is a completely different claim to your first one that you can’t seem to admit is objectively false.
There isn’t. That isn’t punishing voting that punishing the lie hence it’s knowing requirement. Look into the legislative intent and the controversy surrounding this particular statute and it’s almost certain unconstitutionality.
The fed has zero control on how, when and where elections are handled, zero. The only way they got it through is to punish the lie on the federal document not the cast vote. They are similar they aren’t however the same thing.
The fed has zero control on how, when and where elections are handled, zero.

I don’t know how you can keep Matrix-dodging a truth that’s so obviously on your side. You keep vomiting out these absolutist statements that can be outright disproven in five seconds. You don’t have to lie.
It’s also increadibly uncommon for random individuals to be doing it:

The feds do have some say in federal elections. Shitholy states tried to ratfuck fed elections in their states removing voters from rolls within so many days of an election in recent years and the feds stopped them.
This is different of course, this is the feds trying to de facto remove voters from rolls so many days before an election.
No they have jurisdiction over discrimination which is how they got past the states rights/state sovereignity argument.
Ah that may be so, under the voting rights act perhaps? Not sure if that part is even left standing, the supreme court has been chipping away at it.
Correct. It’s still there, they just use the protected bit to get their foot in the door and test how far they can get before they get pushback.
Eleven whole people, huh? And none of those are proven.
Also, what goes unmentioned, is that most of the people they’ve caught cheating at voting, have voted republican. The democratic leadership doesn’t even mention or advertise the fact.
Idk about immigrants, but voter fraud is mostly for republicans, but the news just repeats it’s not enough to sway an election, as if it was all for dems.
Can we get some goddamned fighters in office? Why do we have these milquetoast sell outs in charge? Obviously we already mostly know why I’m just saying.
You’re probably right on why if it goes back to oligarchs and money. heh. But we do have some, the problem is the system is set up to enhance rather than quell opposition. It takes less than a majority to stop legislation. It takes more than a majority to pass it. Since we’ve somehow managed to be around half and half for more than a couple of decades now, it truly takes comrpromise to get anything done. So at most, only weak things - like ACA (Obamacare) vs. universal health care / single pay - get done. Even with people fighting.
That said, we certainly do not have a full majority of fighters as over time the corruption has spread and a majority of our politicians are essentially on the dole, yes.
The main thing I would say if you’re trying to refrain from losing ALL hope is: Look to the DSA. Not even specifically that organization per se, but the activity surrounding it is a nexus of actual progressive progress against the encroaching fascism.
The most important part is to support outside of the actual electrions - from primaries to funding where possible to canvassing to protesting to even arguing on social media platforms against all the defeatism out there.
We’re fighting an uphill battle. The media downplays any Democrat success and gives fascists passes because that’s what the oligarch owners want. It seems like everything is against us, but… it’s only MOSTLY against us. heh.
I think seeing successes in places like NYC will help show people that progressives CAN do good things when they get actual control. If we can get that translated into enough national support, maybe we can save our country.
Each time he does something like this, he goes a little further, and gets department geads, and people on his side to be a little more complicit. In the hopes that one day he’ll make them all very complicit.
It weeds out the less complicit, too. Amp up the obviously heinous parts, see who shakes out, fill the gaps with the worst folks imaginable, rinse and repeat. Everyone remaining slides more in that direction. Win-win.
There are different people in charge this time around, compared with the first go. Way more capable (clearly evil) people.
