I have absolutely no appetite for requiring ID to use social media, but the anonymity in any social media platform, regardless of its popularity, brings out the worst in some people.
More folks need to get comfortable with the block button. I have a list of users blocked for being shitty, but there sometimes seems to be this weird mentality that blocking users instead of debating them is weak or something.
I only experience people being shitty to me on the fediverse after I call them out for being a misogynist or misandrist or blah-phobic. Otherwise people are very inquisitive and supportive around here.

Yeah, the ‘awful people’ in the fediverse really amount to, like, 5 to 10 people, total. Once you’ve blocked them, it’s great.
But that’s like 25% of the user base D:

Jup, at the current size it is actually manageable.
Don’t forget about their endless array of alts.
Actually, nvm - on pawb.social that might legit be true, if your admin does that for you already.
Also blocking communities, if you browse all and hate most of the posts and comments there.
