Are you looking for an echo chamber that fits your views or what do you mean with “tolerate”? If you keep it civil and back up your arguments, I see a lot of potential for serious discussions on a lot of instances.

We get that question every few weeks. No, Lemmy isn’t a “free speech” place. We tolerate a lot of things here, but the rules are made by the individual communities and instance admins. Generally, they remove misinformation, unhealthy things, hate and such. We don’t know about any “islands” which treat things differently. Lemmy is Free Software, though. You’re welcome to launch such an instance, and you’ll be free to pass arbitrary rules in your own niche.

I meant island in the context of, a different Lemmy instance, separated from the tone and atmosphere of the rest of the network. But yes, we have a few people from other parts of the world as well.

That’s what I wrote. Lemmy is a software, which can be ran on servers. You’re currently on somebody else’s server. In a group that is moderated by yet different people… They gave some rules to you and you now have to choose whether you’re willing to play by their rules.

Obviously, they haven’t banned you yet, despite you saying lots of unproductive, short sentences. I’m not sure if your original question got answered here. If you’re more interested in the details of how Lemmy works, read (for example) the documentation and Wikipedia article.

Which flavor of liberal are we talking? We’ve come a really long way since the mere word had any decisive meaning.

I find that the lemmy users think that there’s one big Atlantic Ocean in the centre and the world is organised on its either sides. Have you ever figured it out that the lemmy servers are spread in what can be technically called the NATO countries ??? Do you have any idea how many users lemmy can have in the BRICS countries ??? And that’s just the tip of the global south !!!

I checked OPs comment history, not sure if conspiracy theory believers about NWO and Cabals are going to have a great time on here.

They also have a temp banned alt @Docker_84@discuss.online you cannot see most of their comments, I am guessing they were purged with the ban, and do not appear in the mod log.

Yes, I was aware of the power outages, and yes I still think that NWO is a conspiracy theory. There’s no connection between the NWO and the power outage, which was likely due to big variations in atmospheric temperatures. There’s been no evidence of foul play or cyber attacks.

I was born before we landed on the moon. So could be.

You do know the world has been around longer than 40 years, right?

And you weren’t around when the Internet was born if you’re under 40, hell if your under 50, using the the 1970s as a generous approximation of the appearance of packet networks, you still weren’t around at the birth of the internet.

              I

Anything that the EU doesn’t agree with is put within the container called “disinformation”. Then there are stringent laws regarding “regulating” the social media.

        That’s not how anything works.

There are only 2 instances of media outlets being banned based on the outcome of a political action and both had been known to spread complete and utter nonsense as “alternative facts” before they were banned: Russia Today and Sputnik.

There’s not a great big cabal that says what’s true and what’s not.

There are objective facts, there are opinions and there are complete fabrications aka lies aka “alternative facts”.
        Facts are fine.
Opinions are fine, but they’re not facts.
Complete fabrications or “alternative facts” are not fine, they can be objectively judged to be complete fabrications.
