Gang, this isn’t complicated. We have a de facto two party system. On election day your choices are: A. Evil, B. Lesser Evil, or C. Don’t vote / wasted vote. That’s the way the system works. Systems can change. If you don’t like the existing system, work to change it instead of just showing up on election day to make a futile gesture. Alaska this year might be a prime opportunity to get wider support for ranked choice voting if played right. You can also show up for primary season to get the Lesser Evil even less evil.

It’s de facto only because people like you keep perpetuating it. And election after election the ‘lesser evil’ keeps getting more and more evil, to keep up with the Republicans. Until now, where even a moderate Democrat is further right than a Republican would have been 30 years ago. Are you incapable of understanding that doing the same thing over and over long term just continues to perpetuate the same cycle of shifting the window further and further right? The more you prove you’re willing to settle for the lesser evil, the more evil you’re gonna end up with. How do you people consistently not learn that your strategy is a losing one and you’re making the exact fallacious choice that the corporate handlers who don’t care about party politics want you to make.

We also have “Not voting for either evil, and vote for a third party”, but then the Democrats wouldn’t be able to vote for bombing other countries, and they couldn’t stand that.

A 3rd party is not viable in our election system. This is not a question of will, it’s a question of math. If your goal is handing the greater evil power for the foreseeable future you’re doing a great job.

          Yes it is.

This is not a question of will, it’s a question of math.

It’s a question of both. You have to be willing to fight against evil to win, something that most people in the US aren’t willing to do.

If your goal is handing the greater evil power for the foreseeable future you’re doing a great job.

That’s obviously not my goal. My goal is to stop evil people from keeping power. It’s people who keep supporting the evil parties who, by definition, want that.

Your “nuh uh” reasoning is too much for me. Even the parts where you admit your plan won’t work in a democracy (“most people”). I look forward to voting for the perfectly good 3rd party you create. Please email me the details at goreadabook@clowncollege.com

I’m basing my strategy on evidence. Your strategy of “support the people who help the fascists, and give them more power” isn’t working.

Bro do you not understand basic logic after years and years of voting lesser evil you will still end up with straight up evil, never actually fixing root problems just pushing them off until tomorrow. Unless you have the brain of an earthworm no one takes “lesser evil” rhetoric seriously anymore. That shit is stupid.

No, you don’t get how elections work. If they can support genocide and ICE and building the wall and, and, and… but because they are more competent and polite than Trump, they are lesser evil. And they should be able to take votes for granted for everyone that isn’t “moderate Republicans” and those are the only ones that they should appeal to, everyone else is just expected to have blind loyalty to the Party in terms of “vote blue no matter who” then they have no incentive at all not to just make every evil the Republicans do bipartisan and just keep moving right and enabling the Republicans like they have done for the last 30 years, at least. If there is supposed to be nothing they should lose my vote for, there is nothing they wont do.

Great job of half reading. I understand quite well how election actually work. You seem to be operating based on how you wish they worked.

I think not voting is a vote for more far right wing nonsense, everything is great.
