    • Brush: Chisel & Hound Classic 26mm V23 Fanchurian

    • Razor: Thiers Issard Le Transatlantic 7/8" Full Hollow Round Point

    • Lather: Subtle Art Soap Co. - Maple Bourbon - Soap

    • Aftershave: Wholly Kaw - Amber Bomba - Toner

    • Talc: Yardley Classic

2 passes. Face lather. Excellent shave.

New soap company for me. I tried Citrus Bay Rum yesterday and learned that I like the soap base a lot. Very easy to lather and has a rich creamy feel. Maple Bourbon is a very nice scent. I expected the bourbon note to be stronger and darker, but it is definitely there. Very nice fragrance.

Today’s shave was a test of a new Escher edge on my Le Transatlantique. Complete success. The edge was keen and the feel was comfortable.

Since @vext01@lemmy.sdf.org mentioned a good shave with his 1912, I felt inspired to take mine out as well. The experience with this razor is always good, and today was no exception. I’m making progress on Ishtar – I’m seeing the bottom of the tub.

    Have a good night!

Atlas Shaves II - Day 5

Soap Smooth is a vendor that seems to have disappeared by the time I started with the hobby. The resulting Pumpkin scent I think has pushed most of us to use holiday scents ranging from Halloween to Christmas.

Smoking Bishop fits the Christmas category as a nice mulled wine scent that uses wine, orange, grapefruit, vanilla, cinnamon, nutmeg, and pipe tobacco as the scent notes.

While rule 2 states that @djundjila@sub.wetshaving.social can’t keep track of scores through the portal this month, I am adopting his nifty score tracker.

    Wednesday, February 05, 2025: Atlas Shaves 2 - Day 5

    • Brush: Rad Dinosaur Creations “Stardust” - TurnNShave Tuxedo 26mm synthetic
    • Razor: Eldrormr Industries - MM24
    • Blade: Accuforge - GEM Microcoat (1)
    • Lather: Stirling - Christmas Eve
    • Post Shave: Stirling - Black Ice Aftershave splash
    • Post Shave: Zingari Man - The Watchman Aftershave balm
    • Fragrance: Chiseled Face - Summer Storm EdP

I had a pretty harsh shave along my jawline. I don’t think I was careful enough with this first-use GEM blade.

Christmas Eve is a nice scent to shave with though. Thoroughly enjoyable.

+2 points for soap with at least half the same scent notes
    +1 point for cross-posting
    +1 point for engaging yesterday
+1 point for spotting an error in an SOTD post (u/putneycj miscalculated his points total)

    Total points (18 previous + 5): 23

A really exceptional shave. This is the best this blade has felt yet. So smooth. I hate to admit it, as it might shine light on my weaknesses as a shaver, but until now, all 11 prior shaves with this blade have given me weepers. This is the first time not getting a weeper. The shave is super close and comfortable, too.

Maybe I should give credit to Stirling instead of the blade, but I’ve used Stirling within the past 11 shaves, so…

This soap has half the scent notes at least: Pine, Fir, Evergreen, Vanilla, Cranberry, Mistletoe, Cinnamon, Clove, Ginger, Nutmeg

Day 05 of Atlas Shaves 2 – Electric Boogaloo Wed 05 Feb 2025

    • Brush: Simpson Chubby 2 Manchurian
    • Razor: Puma 88 (5/8", round tip, carbon steel, hollow ground)
    • Lather: Stirling Soap Co. – Christmas Eve
    • Post Shave: Old Spice – Original
    • Fragrance: Southern Witchcrafts – Autumn Ash

I was a bit afraid when these scent notes came up because I couldn’t think of any soaps I have that shave 2 or more of them. Turns out I’m just very bad at knowing which scent notes are in my soaps, and I have (at least) Autumn Ash, Samhain, Christmas Eve, and Old Spice that fit the bill. Today I went with three pieces of software that all fit:

    • Soap Smooth – Pumpkin: Pumpkin, Ginger, Nutmeg, Cinnamon
    • Stirling Soap Co. – Christmas Eve: Pine, Fir, Evergreen, Vanilla, Cranberry, Mistletoe, Cinnamon, Clove, Ginger, Nutmeg
    • Old Spice – Old Spice: Aldehydes, Orange, Heliotrope, Carnation, Benzoin, Tonka Bean, Cedar, Cinnamon, Nutmeg, Musk, Lemon, Vanilla, Jasmine, Geranium
    • Southern Witchcrafts – Autumn Ash: Maple, Spices (including cinnamon & nutmeg as per phteven_j), Smoke, Amber, Cedar, Oud, Rainwater, Plum, Blackberry, Ash, Birch Tar, Pumpkin, Coffee, Damp Earth, Mildew
