After I watched this, youtube started suggesting a bunch of Sisters of Mercy-era interviews with her, and it’s surprising how neither she nor Andrew really had much to say. (I like the music tho).

There was a lot of tension there. And Andrew isn’t a prolific chatterbox himself. Lack of and or bad conversation is why Wayne split to start Mission. If you had an issue, Andy would just as soon as tell you to go fuck yourself as any thing else. Patricia was still with Andy for the spite fueled sisterhood era. To deny Wayne naming rights. Also why Patricia left and got with captain sensible(Dave) iIRC.

Wayne on the other hand seems about as level headed and nice a guy you’ll find. Though if I had to chose between mission and sisters, I would still trend sisters. They just have a raw less produced sound than mission has. Though mission is great too.

I guess it makes sense that makers of such dramatic music would be so dramatic themselves. But it’s kind of a shame tho bc if I think about other people who single-handedly put albums together, across genres, like Prince, George Michael, and Trent Reznor, they really value collaborations and bring out the best in their collaborators and it seems like that wasn’t happening here.

Fam really rocks the sunglasses tho.

People are people. Sometimes with uncompromising artistic vision comes a lack of compromise LOL. Which are certainly Andrew and Siouxie to a T. Sprinkle with a little neurodivergence. And there’s no telling what new horrific awkwardness we can generate.

            People are people.

            So why should it be,
that they and them should get along so awfully?

No, wait, since you mentioned Siouxsie, I’ve been listening to “full albums” recently, so I gave Tinderbox a try and… I just wasn’t feeling it. I mean… no songs on there really resonated. Cities in Dust came close but the rest of it really fell flat for me. What am I missing?

Tinderbox isn’t big for me either. I love spellbound. Its a whole mood. But it was originally released on Juju in 1981.

Juju and Kiss in the dream house were their peak for me. Juju had Into The Light, Spellbound, Arabian Nights, and Halloween. Kiss had cascade, slowdive, melt, and carnival. Kaleidoscope was solid too. Happy house, Christine, and Israel. Hyena had erm, well dazzle is good, and the Beatles cover as well Dear Prudence. Very psychedelic. Tinderbox well maybe Candyman and being generous Sweetest Chill. A friend who names her products for goth songs frequently had one for Sweetest Chill. Looking Glass was okay, Wheels on Fire was excellent. The Iggy cover too. I probably prefer Siouxies version of the Passenger to Iggy’s. After that it drops off a bit more. Peekaboo and killing jar on peepshow were alright.

Those two were definitely golden age. It was shortly after that the band started to chaff and fray. Also not that I think he had much impact, those were also out in roughly the years Robert was involved with the band some. 1979 then 1982-84.
