  • I am making my best effort to buy locally even if that means I’m paying more (I can afford it), but can we please help local companies to have a better presence online, and most importantly, a fucking UX that isn’t fresh dog shit.

The reality is that shopping in store fucking sucks because the availability and diversity of product is terrible, and I don’t want to spend an hour and a half of public transit to go see if they might have maybe, possibly the thing I need in an acceptable quality.

People will shop online because it saves a lot of time and they don’t have to shuffle between 2 or 3 store.

Help small businesses to make their online experience great so that people are eager to shop there.

  • 1500$ because you don’t have bulk parts, otherwise it could go down by a significant amount.

However, the 5k doesn’t include all the hours of engineering, which costs a lot more than the hardware.

With that said, you are absolutely right that we get dog shit computers for the price. The amount of hours I’ve spent in my life reducing the cost for a board is insane. And bear in mind that this wasn’t for high volume production neither where hardware cost reductions have a big impact.

I hope that this guy go on to do his own thing and doesn’t get gobbled by the corporate machine (or become the corporate machine).

  • There are a lot of open source mechanical keyboards out there and with a bit of elbow grease, anyone that is a little bit tech savvy can figure out how to link all the information together and do something with that.

However, the thing that stands out to me is the integration of all the parts.

Integration between hardware and firmware is a bitch, and add to that the mechanical integration as well. This dude hopefully has a bright future ahed of him, because he certainly has the chops.

  • Absolutely. I have a SUV and I fucking hate it. It takes too much space and is terrible for the environment.

But our other car died at the peak of used market during COVID and my sister offered us a deal (4000$ under market price, making it a lot better than beat ups in the market).

I work for companies I don’t align with, otherwise I wouldn’t be working much.

We make due with the circumstances and we navigate the best we can even if that means going against our values, because the alternative is worse

    For me it’s 2 things :

    • Making a deck that works so well that it crushes everything.

    • Getting shit cards and making it works.

The first one gets me hooked, the second one keeps me going. It takes a long time to figure it out, as you put it.

I mostly play indie games, but I sometimes play AAA games (Ghost of Tsushima right now) and I am glad that I have my rig that can get 90 fps @ 4k (with fsr).

It’s not because you don’t use it every single time that you play a game that it is a waste of money.
