I think I described them better, but you’re welcome to carve out your own definition.

Stalinists, Maoists, etc.
Hyper means “over,” “above,” etc. I think it’s Greek in origin?
“Auth” is short for “authoritarian,” meaning those who lean towards “a good society is one with stricter enforcement of laws,” as opposed to “libertarian” philosophies, generally meaning those who think people should be left alone more often than not.
Left is the political “left,” generally proposing a “managed economy” or “regulations on businesses,” as opposed to the “right” which often values Laissez-faire capitalism.
Hyper-auth-left people believe that the best society is one where a vanguard party (often led by an autocrat) destroys capitalism, capitalists, and often anything that even remotely resembles either (examples of the latter including academics, people who wear glasses, and Jewish people), usually violently.
Most people just call them “tankies.”

“The USSR was perfect.” 😍
“Some things the USSR did were good.” 😡

I totally get that as a philosophy, but the people (or for all I know, bots) that I’ve been running into lately aren’t that.
As an example, they’ve done mental gymnastics to build the following logic:
Russia opposes the US (factual)
The US is imperialist (factual)
Therefore anything Russia ever does cannot be imperialism, but must be anti-imperialism (???)
Therefore anyone who criticizes anything Russia ever does must be anti-anti-imperialist, ergo imperialist (???)
It’s people LARPing wanting freedom from tyranny who actually just want despotism with a different flavor on the boot.

Meh. Enjoy running around telling everyone who voices a concern to “cope.”
I think I’ll be taking your advice to block your instance.

If you say so. I used as much pleasant language as I could. Feel free to constructively criticize others in a way that suits you, and hopefully someone snipes you for not being pleasant enough so you feel how I feel.

I’ve had great help from this community and https://lemmy.world/c/support. I’d never even heard of or found the “official” one, nor do I care to find it now that I know it exists and is a primary reason we don’t defederate.
It’s a shame being hostile to anything Western is considered pleasant, tolerant, and enlightened on Lemmy, while anything that criticizes any person in the East is considered automatically racist.
It’s transparently hypocritical and the far right uses it as a recruiting tool, i.e. “They’re openly racist, why can’t we be?”
Such a colossally disappointing stance that hamstrings what would otherwise be a global force for good. Can’t the world have one political community that isn’t run by morons?

And you, coping so well with my comment that you were compelled to reply and mischaracterize what I’m doing/saying again.
My my, aren’t we pleasant.
If we’re keeping track of which instances harbor nasty people, so far yours is 1/1.

I cope fine. Learn to keep your inane comments to yourself.

Who are you pre-accusing of brigading it?
I suspect there’s plenty of liberals and leftists that appreciate hearing from each other about their shared goals enough to drown out the people who like to pretend that they’re kind, but in reality just like to put kindness on their banner while they cut people down.

No, trust me, I didn’t make it up. It’s explicitly against the rules on a popular instance/community that I encountered recently.

I’m fine with them passionately disagreeing with me, but it does get irritating when they’re allowed to make up all sorts of nonsense about me and the admin->moderator->voter chain applauds it.
When I ask them to explain their accusations, typically I get the classic, “I’m under no obligation to educate you or prove why you’re a piece of shit” or “it’s obvious and you’re trolling by even asking.”
This is rapidly turning into a ban-rant, but oh well:
From memory, there was a thread circle-jerking about how liberals hate soviet bloc housing. I disagreed, saying it’s actually one of the things liberals widely appreciate about the USSR.
Apparently that point and/or defending it is “imperialist apologia” and “trolling.” Much more recently, another of them in a separate thread dug into my modlog and decided to announce that I’m a “fascist apologist,” I assume because they 1:1’ed “imperialist” and “fascist,” which admittedly do have a lot of overlap but are not 1:1.
Regardless, I have never and will never defend imperialism or fascism. Ironically, I was also recently banned for saying that Russia’s invasion of Ukraine is much closer to imperialism, not automatically anti-imperialism (by implied virtue of opposition to the US’ interests). So the irony there is that they’re allowed to defend imperialism, but I’m labeled an imperialist apologist for saying one of the things the USSR did was good and a lot of liberals agree?
I hope - for the world’s sanity’s sake - that they know how ridiculous that is and are just trolling me. Another possibility is they’ve built this caricature of a Westerner so ironclad in their minds that if a Westerner shows up and doesn’t match it, they must be lying to get under their skin? Or… and hear me out… OR… they’re a gaggle of morons.

Blocking individual hyper-auth-left people is laborious, and blocking entire instances or communities because I disagree with some/many of their people just builds an echo chamber around me.
I like to listen to what they have to say. Some of it is right - including thoughts I’d never have had without their input. Some of it is wrong, and I confront them about it. Most of the time, they lose their minds and their local instance admins or community moderators look the other way. It’s very frustrating.

I’ve literally never heard of your instance before.
I don’t say that to shame you, but to establish that the bigger an instance, the more likely jackasses will find their way in due to the nature of the diversity of human thought.
In other words, any instance that 100% agrees with me will be an instance of a single person - me.
Lemmy.world seems good enough for me. I don’t agree with everyone here, but most of the moderators and admins seem to not be actively abusing their power or neglectfully ignoring abuses of their peers.

I just resist the idea of clipping away instances that are Civil But Disagree with me.
If they’re actively hostile just to troll us, then they should be defederated.

Yep. I object to its balkanization, which a lot here seem to vote for, but you can’t the biggest kid on the block and bully the other kids who disagree with you.
It needs to get taken down a peg or two.
Unfortunately, the next Top Dog(s) are almost certain to do the same (or similar) bullshit; the cycle continues - the US is not particularly unique.

I don’t always log in, so the block strategy is only so effective. I’ve blocked them in the past, but unblocked them because they still have some of the best memes and post them more often.
I want to learn about an alternative so that I signal boost that one and the others can wither without engagement from sane people boosting it. Currently, the toxic communities are much more popular and only end up in my (and others’) feeds every so often. I want that to change.
I’ve encountered at least one militant hyper-auth-left community here on lemmy.world, so it isn’t exclusively an instance issue.
You’re mischaracterizing what I said, probably to push your agenda. Either read more carefully or skitter back to somewhere people don’t bother thinking before typing.
Because your eyes are already observing the backs of your sockets, I’ll hold your hand:
I never said the USA isn’t a genocidal settler colony turned global hegemony, nor did I say it doesn’t deserve criticism for that and more, nor did I say I don’t enjoy such criticism. Hilariously ironically, I said the opposite.
I can’t confirm if the second half of your username is true, but the first half sure is.
