Great! I followed it, it might be worth posting on !newcommunities@lemmy.world as well.

Most spammers aren’t reading the list of emails
With LLMs they don’t have to. I don’t really see a good reason to use service@domain.tld personally, you’re giving away more information with little to no benefit compared to something-random@domain.tld.

I’ve been hacked before, luckily nothing severe happened but ever since then I’ve taken stuff like this a lot more seriously.
Let’s say I use a self hosted Addy instance, a bad actor knowing that my email is for email forwarding could assume I’m running Addy, which uses PHP, try the recent php2shell vulnerability and potentially execute commands on my server.
I was thinking of a data breach where it may not be obvious or mentioned which service it’s for, but I’m not sure how realistic that is. 🤔
Maybe I’m a bit overly paranoid, but In this day and age of LLMs I don’t think that’s a bad thing.
Edit: rewording

I actually used to use service@domain.tld but decided to switch because of a few reasons:
Depending on your threat model, it’s worth considering something-random@domain.tld instead.
Edit: formatting

If you have time to manage and moderate it, I think a lot of people here would appreciate that.

Seems this is a repost of https://reddthat.com/post/75402644, my bad I thought it hadn’t been posted yet. :/

Probably people replying to the post by accident, do you have an example?
I agree with what @chickenf622@sh.itjust.works said. Fortunately a friend of mine introduced me to IEMs when I was thinking of buying new audio gear and I ended up buying a pair for about €80 (Letshuoer S12).
Since the day I got them I’ve used them daily, the audio quality is amazing, they sound better than my airpods 2 and I also don’t have to deal with Bluetooth shenanigans.
Maybe !audiophile@lemmy.world or !audiophile@lemmy.ml can help you decide what to get if you’re interested. My advice would be not to go crazy with the price if it’s your first pair so you can get an idea of what you do and don’t like.

I use Mastodon (rarely), Lemmy/PieFed (mainly) and PeerTube (occasionally) because I re-upload the content of another small creator. Some of the channels I follow I mentioned in this older comment, but the advice is relevant here as well. Ask creators you follow to mirror to PeerTube and you’ll have a reason to start using it more!
For YouTubers especially it can be as easy as setting up automatic synchronisation once and forgetting about it.
Edit: or be the one uploading for them if you have permission and the time for it like me ;)

Non AI-generated comic by ToothyBj:

I think requiring AI disclosure like how !selfhosted@lemmy.world does is a good approach. Not all projects rely as heavily on LLMs as others.
In theory, yes. But that’s usually not what happens in practice. I don’t know if that’s the case for Mbin but I have no interest in finding out. Most people that do LLM driven development submit code that looks right, but that doesn’t necessarily mean it is right. The same probably applies to reviewers when approving/merging changes, if they have way more code to review I wouldn’t be surprised if they get lazier with it, might even be subconsciously.
There are a lot more reasons why using LLMs is generally speaking not a good idea, but to keep it short I’ll just share some relevant articles/posts that go more in depth and explain it better than me:
I was somewhat interested until I read the last part. I personally have no interest in contributing to projects that rely on AI and I feel like others feel the same way. It results in more code being shipped than necessary and thus requires a lot more time to understand and modify, I’d rather spend that time on projects that don’t rely on LLMs.
Are there any plans to make this project open source?

To me it seems unlikely people that know what they’re doing (the ones you’re likely looking for) will bother contributing to vibe coded projects. You’ll probably end up with other developers that write slop, if any at all.

It’s unfortunate that this is vibe coded because these sound like they could’ve been interesting and useful projects.
.ml was another instance I was already aware of at the time, back then I didn’t know people formed opinions based on which instance you’re with either
I guess that’s a fair point, Matrix is also an option if federation is important.
