That can also cause damage, just FYI. There’s a lot of invisible damage that can happen to the delicate tissues of the neck and throat.
I love that my existence pisses you off.

Mildly Interesting@lemmy.world•A “well-known individual” is trying to secure a legal injunction against the Guardian to prevent publishing of serious allegations made against him
18·11 hours agoThe 54-year-old’s television career has already stalled following allegations about sexist remarks he made as a judge on Britain’s Got Talent.
But it can now be revealed that he was also at the centre of a major Harper Collins investigation last year, after a junior employee complained about his conduct.
In 2023, a junior employee raised concerns and an investigation by the publisher followed. Employees who had worked with Walliams were interviewed as part of the inquiry, which also involved at least one in-house lawyer.
Well-placed sources told The Telegraph that following the investigation, some junior staff were kept away from the author and one employee agreed a settlement and received a payoff. Former staff also told this publication that they were told to work in “pairs” when meeting Walliams and were advised not to visit his home.
A junior woman who had raised concerns about the author’s behaviour left the organisation after concluding a settlement with Harper Collins that included a five-figure payout.
It could be good ole misogyny and harassment towards women and not necessarily sexual, but whose to say?
My comment still stands. Some people like it, whether it’s because of porn or not, but it’s really important to know that it is never safe to do.
Liking it doesn’t take away the risk. There’s a lot of things we do in life that have risk, but we still do them for various reasons.
By all means, enjoy the thrill! But educate yourself and be aware that there is no completely safe way to choke or be choked. And of course always get consent.
Its good to treat people well and how you want to be treated. Just make sure its wanted on their end.
If people don’t want things in return and the people in their life recognize that and honor that desire, then they are following the meme.
It’s about tuning in to the people in your life and making sure you’re caring for people who care for others. If they prefer to be ignored, then that is still caring for them by ignoring them.
Thank you for speaking up and posting this source. I know you and I haven’t historically gotten on well, but I fully agree with you here.
Edit: misread!
It’s still risky, but you do you.
And you’ve completely ignored the conversation in here around tailoring the care back to the person who needs it. It’s good to care about the people who are caring for you and meeting them where they’re at or giving them back what they need.
Taking a meme that is simply a reminder to care about the people in your life that care for others and getting fucking pissy about it is the most terminally online thing I’ve seen this week, goddamn.
It’s like any other risky behavior - there’s still a risk, but ultimately it’s up to you if you want to risk death in pursuit of orgasm.
Haha people get so pissy about reality - I’m a domme and engage in some choking, but have strict rules around it. It is silly to pretend there’s 0 risk to choking. Be informed and get consent.
Unfortunately, there is no truly safe way to choke. It’s always a risk. But please, please do look into it before choking anyone and always get consent first.
I also have a rule that no choking is allowed if the people involved are under the influence of anything. It’s too risky.
They mean the friend who’s always making all the plans sometimes needs other people in the group to take some initiative.
They even said “sometimes” in there and you still felt the need to reply “No”. Like come on. Not everyone is the same as you and most people appreciate others in their life caring about them.
The people in your life know that caring for you means leaving you alone. They are caring for you in the way you need the most, right?
You’re a bit of an outlier here, let’s be honest lol

Mildly Interesting@lemmy.world•A “well-known individual” is trying to secure a legal injunction against the Guardian to prevent publishing of serious allegations made against him
90·15 hours agoIn a separate legal matter, well-known children’s book author David Walliams has launched an injunction against ITN and the Guardian. This action highlights ongoing tensions between public figures and the media, particularly around issues of privacy and defamation. The case promises to attract significant attention given Walliams’ public persona and the prominence of the media organizations involved.
He was inappropriate with young women.

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•why do some people continue to be weird on the internet
6·15 hours agoI hate to say it, but unfortunately this isn’t weird at all. It’s sadly a common occurrence to have men sexually harass women and girls.
I tend to use “oh come on”, but it’s just a suggestion at the end of the day.
I hope you know I’m not that hung up on it hence the Southpark reference. It can be annoying how my gender is used when in discussions here and that felt pointed.
We were talking past one another and ultimately (I think) we mostly agree. We’re cool if you wanna be cool, no sarcasm :)
That’s really nice of you to say, thank you so much! I hope you have a nice evening as well <3
Oh I totally agree! I’m a gamer as well. It can be a deal breaker for some though. That’s all.
I think you would prefer me talking to you with the phrase “come on gal” instead of “come on man”, which is what I’d use for someone who is male/non-gendered, as it’s an exasperated statement.
Or you could avoid gendered expressions to begin with.
Glad you got my reference though lol
in the way they may need the most.
I didn’t ignore your comment and communicating with others about how they want to be cared for is important. I noted that. I think some people are reading too far into the meme when it’s simply pointing out that people who care for others also need to be cared for by others.
You don’t need to call me “gal” here. I’m not your buddy.

We’re in the Reddit community. It’s topical.
