Not to be confused with band words:
- practice
- scales
- tuner
- first chair
- recital
- solo
- clarinet
- John Philip Souza
- hot cross buns
- tuba
- bassoon
- glockenspiel
I think John Phillip Souza and glockenspiel have potential for new brain rot.
I would still ban Souza
I got to 6 before I realized why such words might be band.
Typically, the sequel leaves a lot to be desired
“Ratchet” would probably be up there.
That’s gotta be a millennial word, it’s so on fleek. Bye Felicia!
It definitely got used a lot by us; but iirc, it’s a borrowed slang from an older period we just liked. Like gnarly or tubular. I am pretty sure I’ve seen it used, in the slang capacity I understand, in a Shaft movie from the 70’s.
I thought I was old when I discovered I had arthritis. This makes me so feel much older.
Def add bruh
I don’t know what half of these means.
Ey yo we liked BANNED WORDS so much we got banned words TWO up in this bitch
As an elder gen Z I can assure you that the list of banned things in my class circa 2015 was somehow worse. Just off the top of my head.
SpongeBob laugh
WW2 Propaganda (Just cause it’s historical doesn’t make it not pornography vaultdweller013)
Any discussion of the killdozer
Bulldozer noises
Tank noises (You will all make annoying lawyers)
Kazoos are not longer allowed
Compressed air canisters are banned especially if you have a whistle and duck tape
Arma is not allowed to be watched on computer property
Soviet national anthem
Russian national anthem
State anthem of Mississippi
Djibouti National anthem
Sakkinarven Polka
Those are just the ones I remember, I am the direct source of at least half of them.
I did sleep under a rock
They changed the state anthem of Mississippi a couple of years ago from Go Mississippi to One Mississippi. It’s no longer contextually hilarious and not nearly as hoki. I guess Mississippi decided they were not on the right track and probably were never going to get to the top.
Shame the old one is pretty unique, frankly if anyone needs an update it’s us Californians. But we are also a somewhat lazy bunch and would probably just make California Dreamin the new anthem. Either that or the committee would let their insanity take hold and ya would end up with something reminiscing a Latin war cant.
This is wildly unrelated but it’s the polka that plays in my head when someone mentions polka which also happens to be mildly problematic though hilarious.
I will proceed to check out the national anthem of Djibouti and the state anthem of Mississippi. I might be back with some questions.
You had things banned in class?
Why?
I started the problem that got banned
I get like 3 or 4 of those. Some of them I’ve heard out of context so I have no clue what they mean.
I’m 39.
Getting old is fuckin bullshit
Thats it, the last comment i see before closing my eyes for the night.
His do you misspell memes as mames?
no mames is Spanish and translates to “no way” or “youre kidding”
“No mames” is a slang phrase in Spanish which is used to mean “no way” or “you’re kidding me,” but with a crude connotation, similar to “no f—ing way” in English.
Google Translate shows it as being more vulgar:
Ohio being on the list is pretty funny (assuming this is in the US). Going to make geography and history classes awkward.
What grade is this, that Edging and Goon were common enough terms that they had to be included here?
“Animal noises” is very broad. Furry persecution. :(
The fact that they lose “LiveSchool points”, whatever those are, presumably for saying these words, is almost worse than the fact that they have this list at all. I don’t know what that system is or how it works, but I already hate it.
It’s probably some fast she discipline system. The way we treat kids in schools is horrific, has been for quite a while though but they feel entitled to subject kids to whatever technological Horrors they can come up with
Gen X. There were no banned words.
What did Emma do?
I have the same question.
Idk but shes tweakin
Seriously intrigued by “Darius noises”, hahaha
and, fast she discipline??
Had to look this up: https://www.tiktok.com/@irisa_darius/video/7440554144097668395?lang=en
Seems like Darius is a guy with autism that makes noises on TikTok. His caretaker (mother?) seems to think it’s healthy to express himself and let off energy.
I would upvote because added context but you’re promoting TikTok so I won’t.
Yah, I like a context but fuck a TikTok link
There’s worse, like x links
At least you can view the videos on browser, a bit
I don’t think there is worse than a militarized platform being used as the world’s largest data collection scheme by a hostile militaristic dictatorship. I think that’s a super high bar to clear.
Talking about China or USA? :)
Mirror Link
tl;dw Mom says set aside 10min for kids to make silly noises in class to behave better the rest of the day
Yeah… Exposing your autistic sons „strangeness“ to the internet sure seems healthy for that kid…
For us it was just finger guns and swear words.
