It’s cool to see a show like this that, while maybe still aimed more at teens than adults, is stubbornly optimistic. Threads the needle between serious and lighthearted just so that it’s neither too heavy nor light.

In some ways the whole vibe of it reminds me of a more grounded Gurren Lagann, which is a major compliment as Gurren Lagann is also a stellar series in my opinion.

I love the series but I assume there’s some mistranslation of culture in the idioms of some of the characters. (I watch dubs) Like Senku’s constant “I don’t care a billionth” and “you get 1 billion points.” and Gen’s constant pig latin. Those idioms are cute when used sparingly but it seems like it’s every other sentence.

They are actually speaking like that. I think it might actually be more overt than Naruto lmao

Every time Senku says “hyaku oku” he’s going full hyperbole. Gen it’s harder to tell if you don’t know Japanese.

Dr. Stone is amazing and really scratched a nerdy itch for me, haven’t watched all of the anime but from what I have seen it’s a solid adaptation of the manga

It does a really good job showing humanity in a good light. And it builds itself up and pulls off some moments that don’t just make you go “maybe humanity ain’t so bad” but genuinely make you mentally scream “FUCK YEAH! HUMANITY RULES, WE MAKE THE LAWS OF NATURE OUR BITCH”.

It helps that the show is set in a setting where the environment has had time to heal, and nothing the cast does can lead to the kinds of problems we have today. They simply aren’t operating at that kind of scale. The show is able to revel in all upside, no downside, with each technological advancement.

It unapologetically celebrates the best parts of us, and I love the show for that.

      Get excited.

But for real it reminds me of watching Mr Wizard or Beakmans World with the science stuff. Mix that with some good build up events and story telling and it’s a good show. I’m a grown ass man watching some kids anime about how the good guys always win and no one has to die. They just get healed with this or that. Just turn them to stone and have a bat shit on them. I enjoy it.

Me and my girlfriend started watching it last week, we are already on season 2, it’s pretty good, I can’t believe it took me this long to start watching it.
